Driving ruining shoes!

I've only been driving since April and it's taken me to yesterday to realise that it's the cause of premature aging on the left foot of a few lovely pairs of shoes. Kate Spade glitter Keds and some nice new leather sock boots from Topshop. The toe box is significantly more creased than on the right shoe. Sad

Is there something amiss with my foot position on the clutch or do I need to start keeping some crappy shoes in the car for driving?

Yes. Driving does damage shoes. But driving in heels or silly shoes damages people.

Just keep a pair of secure slip ons with a small heel ( that means 1cm, not the fashion definition!) In the car.

I’ll probably get shouted at for this but I tend to drive barefoot or if it’s cold keep a pair of toms in the car.

It’s worse in an automatic, only one shoe gets worn! I always drive in trainers and change shoes/boots when I get where I’m going.

I've seen people get out of their cars in stilettos and my mind reels at how they've managed to drive in them! I can only drive in flat shoes.

My accelerator foot shoe looks brand new compared to the clutch one...as if I've bought the display shoe!!!

Seeing a woman get out of a car in staggerers is terrifying. A warning to keep well clear.

I keep a pair of cheap primark trainers in the car for driving in so my shoes don’t get creased.

The women getting out of the car have probably just changed into them in the car.
After all you’re not going to stand on the pavement and change your shoes Smile

I have never damaged my shoes, and I average 200 miles a week.
Are you driving with most of your foot flat on the pedal, with heel resting on the floor? Maybe adjust your seat height and reach so your feet don't have to bend?

ChippyMinton
I'm 100% prepared to accept that it's my seat position. A combination of short legs and tiny feet mean I have to have seat pulled right up under the steering wheel

I keep plimsolls in the car (literally, cheap crap ones from decathlon) and change into them if I'm wearing anything other than trainers.

Northernmum100 · 02/11/2017 19:10

I keep a pair of flat shoes under the drivers seat and stick them on for driving. Easy and safe.

ChippyMinton · 02/11/2017 19:53

That sounds uncomfortable!
