I’m looking for a few ‘chuck on and go’ dresses. Any recommendations for dresses you might have bought recently?

Whistles knitted dresses are. v good.

Appuskidu · 01/11/2017 23:46

The Hush Ivy dress is lovely. Size down though!

Dancergirl · 10/11/2017 10:48

I'm looking too.

Some of these dresses are so shapeless! I'm surprised the Ivy is so popular, it doesn't seem to have any shape.

Has anyone seen anything around that's a bit more fitted? No flowery prints!

Ididnthearanything · 10/11/2017 12:17

I have the last year’s version of the Cos dress linked by Lucked on the previous page. Yes I agree, it looks completely shapeless but actually some how or other it’s surprisingly flattering, even on my pear shape. And it’s cosy. Definitely worth a try.

Dancergirl · 13/11/2017 13:16

Thanks, I do like Cos so might have a look.

Any other recommendations please?

I’ve been searching for nice casual dresses for ages and can’t find anything that’s quite right. Anyone found a good one yet??

applesareredandgreen · 16/11/2017 08:59

I bought a knitted dress in Lidl a couple of weeks ago. Straight but not tight fitting, scoop neck, front pockets, around knee length. About £8!!!! I haven’t worn or washed it yet though .......

Wtfdoicare · 16/11/2017 12:22

apples I got that one too! It's actually really nice, a simple dress with a flattering shape. Such a bargain.

NearlyChristmasNow · 16/11/2017 12:48

I saw the Phse Eight navy v neck one I've just linked to - it was very nice on but a bit too short for me unfortunately (I have knees that are best hidden away!!)

PaperdollCartoon · 16/11/2017 12:59

I’ve been eyeing the Hush Tara and Ivy dresses. I’m a 5”2 pretty standard size 12, was thinking I’d be a medium does that sound right?

Also like the Boden Penny dress

ilovecherries · 16/11/2017 13:04

paper, I'm a 14-16, and need a large in the Tara, so medium is probably right in that. I'd go smaller in the Ivy though. I'm wearing the medium, and it's a slouchy, loose fit.

PaperdollCartoon · 16/11/2017 13:16

Thanks Cherries good to know

Dancergirl · 16/11/2017 15:55

I really like the Phase Eight one thanks nearly Just wondering if it will suit me, I’m an inverted triangle with wider shoulders than hips.

goose1964 · 16/11/2017 18:27

I bought a lovely berry skater dress/ tunic in Primark, it looks far more expensive that was. Really comfy too

princesspeach21 · 16/11/2017 18:31

Have you looked at Whistles?

franktheskank · 16/11/2017 18:48

I bought some from hollister, can’t do links but they’re really flattering and material is lovely and soft.

V neck skater style dresses with long sleeve, I bought one in a cranberry sort of colour and one in a lovely dark green.

Dancergirl · 16/11/2017 19:03

Ooohh, I like the cable knit dress from Hollister frank:

I'm not sure if it will flatter big boobs though?

Dancergirl · 16/11/2017 19:05

www.hollisterco.com/shop/uk/p/v-neck-skater-dress-10039222?seq=02&categoryId=85292&ofp=true

Is this the one you mean frank? Is it jersey or knitted? Looks nice.

franktheskank · 20/11/2017 00:21

Yes i liked the look of that one too but had the same thought, in a 36 gg cup and necklines that high make me look a bit too matronly!

The second link is the one I mean it’s not knitted but definitely more the kind of material you would have in a light sweater, very soft and warm but not too thick.

It’s a low ish neckline which I don’t mind as it’s flattering but Could be too low for some.

Fakingit36 · 20/11/2017 12:04

I'm in the US and there is this famously weird catalogue called J Peterman that has sketches and whimsical descriptions. They have a merino dress that I wear constantly in winter and have in 2 colors. Very work appropriate, cosy, comes down to knee, looks great with boots. www.jpeterman.com/item/wdr-2895/105/lc-the-million-mile-dress
