Can anyone help me pick a 40th gift for my best friend? (Pics!)

She is very special so I want to splash out.

She loves jewellery, she's very keen on gold and loves diamonds (!!) But she is single (nasty divorce) so doesn't usually get bought jewellery.

Her taste is a bit quirky, she likes bold things.

I am totally torn between these two choices (and cost isn't a factor in deciding, my budget is roughly £200-250 top whack.)

So do you think option one

Or option 2

Option 2 I can have engraved with something meaningful on each bead which I know she would love. That said, there would be something very symbolic about getting her a diamond ring; I've been there with her through a terrible divorce and I know how much she longs for a romantic man in her life to buy her diamonds but she doesn't have one! So why not me instead?! Grin

I've known her most of my life and she got me a wonderful 40th gift so I want to splash out and get something she'lll love. She adores Monica Vinader so I'm keen to get something from there.

Thoughts...?

The ring. Because of the wave it’s not the sort of diamond ring normally associated with romantic love. I have an eternity ring from my parents, one from DH (a gorgeous MV one), and would absolutely wear one from a friend who I love/loves me as the two of you clearly do.

Both are lovely, however I wouldn't buy a delicate ring for someone with large hands. And I wouldnt engrave that bracelet as I think it would just look like it was scratched .

chloechloe · 30/10/2017 08:03

I have a few pieces from Monica Vinader. Personally I think the rings look better stacked - and I get the impression from your post that your friend is unlikely to buy any others for herself.

I have a bracelet with the same closing mechanism and really like it. It feels quite substantial and designed to last despite looking delicate.

I think I would go with the bracelet. You don't have to get each bead engraved, you could also put the initials of the two of you with a heart, or the initials of her and her child.

I'm tempted to buy that bracelet for myself now!

You sound a very nice person OP to be buying your friend such a lovely gift.
I'd personally say the ring, but I'd be thinking about which she would like best. Jewellery is like perfume in that taste is very personal and everyon elikes different things.
Whatever I hope she likes what you choose.

The bracelet

PinkHeart5914 · 30/10/2017 16:17

Definitely the bracelet it’s beautiful!

The ring is nice but a friend giving me a ring I’d find weird personally especially if it had the friends initial on it

Creamswirls · 30/10/2017 18:10

The Riva diamon bracelet for sure

buttwingsham · 30/10/2017 20:26

I was coming on to say exactly what chloechloe said, I think the ring is beautiful but it needs to be stacked so unless she would add to it I think it would look a little lost on its own.
The bracelet is lovely. You are a very kind friend.
