Brilliant harems under £25 or so? Or do I need to suck it up and invest in Hush harems?

I am about to go to Australia (yay!) with a 18 month old (not yay!) and I want to be as comfy as possible on the flight. I usually wear leggings but want something even comfier and looser, so am thinking of getting some harem pants.

I have seen lots of recommendations for the Hush harems on MN, but I am struggling a bit with the price tag (I would like two pairs, as toddler will almost inevitably necessitate a change of clothes at some point). Has anyone found any brilliant harems that are a bit less pricey - max £30 or so? I am a 12-14 on the bottom, if that helps.

Also interested to hear what shoes people wear with these!

TisapityshesaGeordie · 28/10/2017 15:28

Converse without socks. Think I may have to give up on them during the cold weather though, don't think they'll work with boots!

hungtotheover · 28/10/2017 16:59

I wear Converse, Gazelles or Stan Smiths with mine.

0utForAWalkBitch · 28/10/2017 17:20

I got the Hush ones but I wouldn't re-purchase. They're fine but not worth the money. I like the Hush Amie joggers a lot, but again not worth the money, a few washes and the stitching on the waistband is unraveling. I'll be getting Sainsbury's or Next when I come to replace, based on this thread.

sourpatchkid · 28/10/2017 21:55

What tops do you wear with them?

I want to love them but I just can’t see how they’d work?

mowglik · 28/10/2017 22:59

sourpatch wear fitted tops with them, and a biker or fitted denim jacket looks nice. Also a blazer if you wear them.

Shoes wise I like them best with sandals but am currently wearing them with gazelles or superstar trainers. I’ll probably wear them with ankle boots as it gets colder

I love harems but am still searching for the perfect black pair. Try H&M they seem to do a lot of different harem styles

RedBlackberries · 28/10/2017 23:00

I wear strappy tops with them. Like little vest tops and a cute wrap around cardigan or a fitted light jumper.

Shoes are always difficult outside summer though.

MinesaPinot · 28/10/2017 23:04

mydrawstring Thanks for the link, I've just ordered a black pair. I've always steered clear of harem pants as I think my legs are too short for them, but at cheap enough at £4.99 a pair - if they look odd I'll just wear them for lounging around the house.

mowglik · 28/10/2017 23:05

They can look good with boots

I have these. I bought them to wear in India but find myself in them all the time here too.
I wear them with a vest top, denim jacket and huge scarf that doubles up as a blanket. Summer I wear sandals, winter ugg boots.

MrsD28 · 03/11/2017 12:52

Thank you for the recommendations everyone. I have bought some from eBay plus one pair from Hush (I'll return them if the eBay ones are good!). While I was searching a did find some decent pairs on Boohoo, but they didn't have size / colour combinations that worked for me.

Where would I find a pair like the green pair in the photo?

FergalBurgal · 23/11/2017 11:05

Probably a long shot, but any update on the eBay ones linked on here?
My old favourites for around the house are dying a death.

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 23/11/2017 14:05

I bought the ebay ones thanks to the recommedation on here. They are thin, however, extremely comfortable and only £5.95. I am pregnant and wear them around the house. Love them! Thanks for the recommendation!

FergalBurgal · 23/11/2017 14:10

My old ones were bought when I was last pregnant about 4 years ago and I never stopped wearing them Grin
What's the sizing like if you don't mind me asking?

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 24/11/2017 15:01

Fergus, I ordered s/m and they are stretchy enough to go round me at 9 months. I'm usually 8/10.

squoosh · 24/11/2017 15:49

I bought the ebay ones too. They're so comfy as lounge/slob wear. And they look good too!

slug · 24/11/2017 22:05

Am about to go to NZ and was about to buy the Hush hareems before I found a soft pair of joggers in a Gap outlet shop for £14

slug · 24/11/2017 22:11

Similar to these

CAAKE · 25/11/2017 01:13

I'm no help at all I'm afraid. Flying home to Australia with toddler in a fortnight and have just invested in two pairs of Hush harems!

They're nice but the Next ones I've had for a good three years were just as good. I'm only updating them because I've worn them so much they have holes.

MrsD28 · 25/11/2017 12:18

Update: the Ebay harms did not work for me (the waist band seemed perfectly designed to cup and emphasise my mum tum) but I LOVE the Hush harems - I ended up buying a second pair and paying for express delivery just so that I could have another pair for the trip. We have just returned and they were brilliant for the 50+ hours of flying that we did - highky recommended!

I love my Hush ones - the material is lovely and thick and I even wear them out and about.

They're my go-to flying clothes as well, OP.

TossDaily · 25/11/2017 13:48

Should have RTFT...Blush

FergalBurgal · 29/11/2017 14:14

I ordered the eBay ones before seeing most of the replies. I sized up because I wanted them to be really comfy but I think I should've ordered my normal size. They are so stretchy! Happy with them though since they'll never see the outside world. Can finally throw my old holey pair away.

BillyDaveysDaughter · 29/11/2017 14:22

I know you found some OP, but for anyone else still interested I've got a couple of pairs of these from Amazon at the princely sum of £6 each for the plain colours - soft and comfortable, not too heavy (I run a bit hot), and have a very nice drape even if you're plus sized like moi:
