Help: wedding make-up for the clueless

Hi all,

I am getting married soon and need to work out what to do about make-up. I usually wear a BB cream for work but nothing else - I haven't worked out how to wear mascara that doesn't end up under my eyes.

I recently had make-up done for my sister's wedding, and even though I said I wanted something light and natural as someone who doesn't wear make up often, it was heavy (for me) and I felt like a clown. I knew I didn't want that for my own wedding.

So what I'm thinking is that I could go to make-up counters and ask them to try and do some light but nice make-up for me so I can figure out what I do want. I could then take a photo and ask someone to basically repeat the photo when I get married overseas.

Anyone know which make-up counters will do this? I don't mind paying but don't want to pay huge amounts, maybe £20 or £30 (have absolutely no idea how these things work or how much it might cost).

I live in London. Thoughts?

Honestly though, every makeup artist I've ever been to puts on way more foundation than I usually do and I always feel I look caked in makeup, you might be as well spending the money on some nice foundation, highlighter, blusher and eyeshadow and learning how to do it yourself. Thanks for the recommends. I went through a phase of trying about three years ago but never really got there. I'll give Laura Mercier or Bobbi Brown a try.

I think you might be better spending the money having a trial while you're away, that way if it's too heavy etc you can say.

Google natural wedding looks, screenshot the looks you like and show them.

A MUA over here might gie you exactly the look you want but the one abroad will be using different products.
