How much would you spend on a winter coat?

I usually buy a new winter coat every year. I don't always buy new seasonal clothes at all but I get a lot of wear out of my coats so I'm ok buying a new one and then selling the old on eBay. Usual budget normally £100 or less. How much would you normally spend on a new coat?

Depends but I like quality coats.
Last year I bought 2. A wool herringbone one in Boden for about £200ish and a plain navy double breasted wool jersey in Jigsaw for about £200 also and it has been the best of the two. I have worn in loads.

I am looking around for something new for this year at the moment but have not found anything i love yet

I am a bit of a coat/jacket addict, I just love them. Most of my coats have cost around £250-£400 but I do buy less classic coats for less like my mango navy velvet down filled puffer jacket and I am happy to buy second hand, I got a beautiful aquascutum camel coat for about £20 on eBay, it's 1970s and still looks perfect. I'm currently lusting after a Max Mara coat, but I can't justify a four figure sum on a coat on our income. I'm going to treat myself when I go back to work in a few years though, and I can more than happily use my current coats until then.

Quality of the coats is fine but I like new designs. So for example I still love the aviator coats which I know are everywhere ATM. It's just about having a change I suppose...
