Fringes for Autumn

So it seems fringes or 'bangs' are fashionable this Autumn. Anyone planning to switch?

A few examples, it's not just Alexa Ubiquitous Chung and her fringe:

I've had a full fringe my entire life, I just look crap without one with my Neanderthal low forehead Hmm
Glad to hear I'll be fashionable again Grin

Hmmm...my fringe has pretty much grown out into horrible thick front layers, so I'm contemplating whether to keep growing or chop it again. I'm over a full fringe. It doesn't suit me since I hit 40 and gained weight.

I'm thinking long side fringe but I'd like something a bit up-to-date. Pondering.

LadyWithLapdog · 08/10/2017 10:50

I had a fringe when I had quite messy hair. Past few years I've tried to be more groomed but I'm growing my hair again so I was thinking it'd be good to go for a fringe now.

Yes I just had mine cut in. Makes me feel more "done"

LadyWithLapdog · 08/10/2017 10:52

How did you get it done, Snipples? How's the rest of your hair?

I do mine myself and like it. Covers less than perfect brows and wrinkles.
It is the only part of my hair I blow dry. Sali hughes has a tutorial on this.

I have mid length hair which is cut in longish layers - usually wear it wavy and I went for a blunt fringe with choppy bits cut in so it looks soft and longer at the edges so I don't look like a choir girl! Kinda like this pic (obvs not me)

That looks nice but quite high maintenance in its simplicity. Mine is just about chin length so a difficult stage to style in any way.

Could you try something side swept - have you seen a picture of something you like?

Dustbunny1900 · 08/10/2017 17:47

I do side bangs , can't do "full fringe" as it gets greasy far too quick.
Long side bangs aren't as big of a commitment for me, they grow out nicely and are easy to pin back ..but they help conceal my humongous dome fivehead and soften/frame my face.

HolgerDanske · 08/10/2017 18:26

Oh god please don't call them bangs.

I've got a fringe at the moment. I'm growing it out I think. I'll see what happens.

dudsville · 08/10/2017 18:31

I have been contemplating this but 1) worried about what it would look like on a windy day and 2) will it make me look like my child self.

Dustbunny1900 · 08/10/2017 20:14

Sorry lol, I'm american, it's what we call them ! Grin

HolgerDanske · 08/10/2017 20:19

Oh well if you're actually American then of course it's fine!! Smile

scrabbler3 · 08/10/2017 20:24

I like fringes but I have a widows peak so a fringe looks a mess on me. I love Claudia winkelmans look but know I'm in the minority.

brapbrap · 08/10/2017 20:43

A fringe is for life not just for autumn

NeedingSolutions · 08/10/2017 22:39

Does anyone else think that once you've got a fringe, it's hard to get rid of? Like if you get too used to it, I mean. Or maybe it's only if you grow up with it?

LadyWithLapdog · 09/10/2017 22:03

I KWYM as I see myself as a fringe person despite not having had one for a while.
