How the fuck do you wash their stuff? I was really pleased with a load of knitwear I bought, cost me a fortune and it's all ruined after one wear. Admittedly I put it on the handwash cycle in the washer but a) my life is not such that I can be arsed to handwash everyday items and b) how would you handwash anyway in this weather? Handwashing leaves it wringing wet and it would get ruined drying over a heat source so it would never dry.

Any ideas where I can get similar which I can put in the washing machine?

I would put it on a cool handwash cycle and then air dry. I dont have any of their knitwear but have a lot of hush knitwear and always wash it this way. I put it on my dryer flat.

It should be fine on the hand wash cycle . Did you use a wool liquid detergent ? When you say it’s ruined , what’s wrong with it ?

neveradullmoment99 · 04/10/2017 20:07

OP how was it ruined? Did it shrink?

I rarely handwash any items. Only my hush cashmere jumper but thats because i have special soap that i dont need to rinse out. Its special cashmere soap.

I have a lot of Mint Velvet knitwear and never had any problems. Always put it in the machine on hand wash cycle with normal biological Persil and then air dry.. I would contact them and see if there's been an issue with the item you've washed.

ClariceClap · 04/10/2017 20:13

I used normal liquitab things, non-bio. The knits have come out with streaky marks on them and the fabric is damaged. They haven't shrunk, if anything they've stretched and gone out of shape.

If you're airdrying inside, surely it takes days to actually dry? Some are quite thick and start to smell musty if they don't dry quickly. I really liked them and don't often find stuff I like Sad

I think you should return them OP. Shitty knitwear gives me the rage - glares at Hush catalogue.

Nearlyadoctor, thanks for the info. I assumed they'd tell me to do one since I'd machine washed a handwash only item. Maybe it is worth contacting them. Their website interestingly doesn't have reviews for items so I wondered whether other people had this problem.

Get some Woolite and re wash one of them with that . Dry them flat to dry.. the wrong detergent can damage wool.

Hand washing - gently, gently squeeze the water out. Don't wring. Then lay it flat on a towel. Don't need to be precise but don't scrunch it up. Then roll the towel around it, like one of those swirly cakes with the jam in the middle. Squeeze the towel/stand on it etc. Don't rub or wring it. Don't be overly vigourous but no need to be really gentle. It will draw the water from the item and leave it no wetter than if it had been spun i a washing machine dry. :)

ClariceClap · 04/10/2017 20:22

A towel! I'd never thought of that. Good tip, thank you. I thought wringing would damage things. I just need to be arsed to actually handwash now....
