I've decided to buy one but there are so many on the market plus I have sensitive skin and I've read that they hurt.

Can any of you recommend one? What do you use?
I have very blond hair so cant lazer my moustache. oh dear!

I just use my leg one on my tache oh the glamour. It is a braun silk epil

Girlywurly · 03/10/2017 12:42

Yes, me too. It gives really good results and, if you keep it up, doesn't hurt at all after the first time. I think my epilator is the same as the previous posters.

If you're really worried about the pain, you can pop a couple of pills and glug a glass of wine for the first time. I think it's marginally less painful if the skin is warm, as the follicles have more 'give', IYSWIM? So maybe steaming your face beforehand could help, although despite being a wimp, I've never bothered with any of these measures.

I used to get the threaders in Superdrug to do my tache but don't like walking home with a red face. Epilator is much better. It does sting, but keep a cold soft cloth handy for after and it is okay.
My tip is to do it quickly.

Thanks all. there seem to be lots of different braun ones. Which is best in you opinion?

I'm looking at at them as there's no way I can have threading again as it was so painful and traumatic for my skin!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 03/10/2017 13:29

I wonder if a threading twisty contraption works as well? I bought one ages ago but chucked it as didn't have the patience to work out how it worked properly!

Aderyn17 · 03/10/2017 17:03

I had one of those. Tbh the epilator is better. I kept missing bits with the twisty thing.
I think the best epilators are ones which get more hairs at once, so 40 tweezers rather than 20.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 03/10/2017 17:50

Will it say that on the description?

Aderyn17 · 03/10/2017 17:54

It should say whether it has 20 or 40 tweezers, yes.

Also look out for ones that get 0.5mm length hairs.
Some of them have angled heads and loads of different attachments or can be used in the shower - you can spend anything between £30 - £150.
With mine, I never used any of the attachments and didn't want to use it in the shower (but I only use it on my legs and tache, not on underarms or bikini line), so for me a lot of extras would be a waste of money, but it really does depend on what you would use it for.

Bobbybobbins · 03/10/2017 18:01

Wow I never thought about using mine on my face. I'm wincing at the thought but might give it a go....

I've silk epil 5 that has few attachments & cooling mit, for legs & tried on face a few times. It does hurt but gets more bearable as you go along & it does the job well.

I epilate at night as I go red after (same with brow wax). Best not done tired as while trying to do under my lip the rotation sort of dragged lip into epilator, luckily inside of mouth heals very quickly.

I find that I get some white heads appear in following days so wondering if anyone else does & what may improve that issue?
