I would like to give it a go but DH works a random shift pattern so it's difficult to go to a regular class. Does anybody follow any sessions on YouTube that could be recommended please.

Thank you

Yoga with Adrienne!!!

Do you all think that if you've not done yoga before you should go to a couple of classes first before doing YouTube?

KingIrving · 02/10/2017 01:00

IT would definitely be worth it. Breathing is important and you need to be told how to perform some of the poses correctly. There are also some that you shouldn't do during your period, so yes, if going to a good yoga class is a possibility, you should go

CountFosco · 02/10/2017 06:32

I'm always a bit Hmm about there being any pose a beginner could do that wouldn't be suitable when it's your period. What's suppose to happen? Are we going to become hysterical?

But I do agree trying to go to the odd class is a good idea. Having said that Adrienne's videos aimed at beginners and her foundations of yoga series have taught me things that years of classes haven't so I do think they are a very good option for a beginner.

Doseydots · 02/10/2017 07:58

I did yoga years ago so I have know about the breathing and some of poses. I am going to try Adriene's beginners tonight for a refresher.

Daily Yoga app. Has pose descriptions and videos, and loads of dedicated sequences. I like it

ZaraW · 02/10/2017 16:35

Cody App has really great classes it's quite expensive though.

The period thing is a myth. An inversion is not going to do anything sinister to your body just because you're bleeding.

Another vote for Yoga with Adriene. Started in Jan as a complete beginner and still going strong, her explanations for breathing and positions are excellent, and she adapts every move to different levels. She also does a great job of making you smile when you feel like shit Smile

Doseydots · 03/10/2017 08:00

Well I tried day 1 of Adriene's 30 day challenge. I enjoyed it, it was gentle enough for me but I really struggled sitting crossed legs, which has made me realise just how much I need to be doing this. I haven't a clue where my flexibility has gone.
