I am 35, 5'5" and a size 20 and need to sort out my look. My hair is long and wavy and I struggle to do anything more complicated than a ponytail. What would people suggest that I do clothes and hair wise to look like an accountant? I have just started working in a small practice and and am the only woman hence nobody there to get inspiration from. I also feel the cold something awful and cannot wear heels due to balance issues related to my disability.

Hair in a high bun. Doesnt need to be immaculate. Makeup - some primer, powder, eyeliner or mascara, anything else you fancy.

I also have an extreme hatred of being cold and let me tell you the secret is a thick black polo neck underneath a smart pinafore dress. So cosy and looks really stylish and smart. Maybe with a necklace too, depending on the dress. Patent shoes always look smart (try loafers if youre not a heels person - im not). Also you can wear black fleece-lined tights (asda) if youre cold.

I hope thats somewhat useful!

Hi, have you tried a curling wand to create smooth waves? I used to have wavy, long hair and found I had to style it so that it looked groomed and stylish. I would either blow dry it with baby kiss big hair or use a curling wand to create smoother waves. The YouTube channel HuntersAndHeels has a good hair tutorial x

I used to find jersey dresses good - wear with ankle boots with whatever heel you can manage or smart flats. Put a blazer over the top if you want to be smarter. Also you can easily put a thermal camisole under for warmth/boob decency.

Also how are you with trousers? I struggle with them (am a size 12 now but was an 18 for years and a bit shorter than you) but if you are ok with them, fairly slim fit black or navy trousers, loose but longer line top then blazer over the top was smart and comfy and easy to manage with flats. I found I needed the jacket to give me shape.

I found and still find H&M good for tops and jersey blazers. I don't care if the blazers don't do up as I never actually do them up!

Also I dress fairly plainly - some colour but rarely pattern. I do have the odd pair of bright shoes, funky jewellery etc to lift my look whilst remaining professional (fellow accountant, not a great profession for pushing the office casual vibe!)

You can get great flat shoes, I wear silver brogues & black patent brogues.
Slim fit ankle grazer pants (wore these Upto size 22 before I lost some weight) - general grey, navy or black, fine knit jumpers in plain colours, bright scarves, bright blouses. Personally I dont show cleavage, or wear anything too tight, as I work with men and want to be treated on an equal footing. Big chunky silver jewellery. Minimal make up too.

I don't know your exact style but some quick things I know to do

Ballet bun - or use the hair doughnuts. They are good and look neat and quick

If you can French plait do a middle parting plait each side and then into a bun or pony tail

Also do you have them bendy roller things you put in damp hair and twist

They are handy and you only need a few to make ends curly just take them out in the morning x

Lots of YouTube stuff on easy hair tips.

Xx

are you me OP?

I try to get my eyebrows shaped and tinted monthly and eyelashes tinted. Also gel nail polish monthly.

Try a nice easy bobbed hairstyle?

You can get nice plus size clothes from studio 8 and yours clothing. New look do some good clothes too.

Smart jewellery and earrings.

I'm trying to lose weight though because the sad reality is that people respect you more when you are slim.
