Best foundation for oily skin

At 37 my skin is paying me back for the relatively clear teenage years.

I'm suffering with odd spots and my skin is very oily but still sensitive.

I'm struggling with foundation, most are slipping off in a few hours or just generally looking rubbish.

I've been using an oil free moisturiser and mattifying primer but I still look rubbish.

Anyone in the same boat with a miracle cure and or a damn good foundation to make me look like I'm alive and faking it?

Can't recommend Estée Lauder Double wear enough. I have oily skin and double wear doesn't break up on my skin.

I've found that the best moisturiser for my oily skin to be Rosehip oil from The Ordinary. My skin stays matt now even without makeup.

How does it go on? I can't bear the hard work some foundations can be

I really love No.7 Beautifully Matte foundation - they do a full coverage one, and a 'light' version for a light-medium coverage. I have both versions as my skin swings from relatively clear spots-wise (but still gave some old acne scars that I like to 'blur') to really spotty, based on the time of the month.

Not difficult to apply, blends nicely, the best coverage I've found, stays put all day and a good price. It's the only one I've found to not make me even oilier or give me more spots.

Double Wear - it's superb. Just bought my first bottle, but wish I'd done it decades ago.

EraArils · 30/09/2017 19:42

I use a buffing brush (I have ones from Zoeva, Sigma and real Techniques, Zoeva is my favourite). You can also apply with beauty blender. I find that Double wear doesn't really require that much blending.

Another double wear devotee here. I need some more if anyone spots an offer...

I have the normal and the light. I apply for work with a Mac brush 187 I think. For special occasions I use a beauty blender which takes fractionally longer but gives a better finish.
I still get oily with it but even when I do it looks better than other foundations.

I'm 37 and also have oily skin, I love Double Wear Light. It's not as heavy as Double Wear but you can layer it up if you need more coverage.

BumWad · 30/09/2017 20:04

Yea double wear is very good

noshit · 30/09/2017 20:04

Another Double Wear concert here. Amazing foundation! Wished I’d found it years ago.

BabyAlexander · 30/09/2017 20:08

Looks like I need a double wear sample.

I didn't get on with the No 7 matte, slips right off, it just sorts of sits on top of my skin waiting to come into contact with a pale coloured top.

I liked the No 7 until I tried DW - it's three times more expensive but a zillion times better.

Cakescakescakes · 30/09/2017 20:15

Go to the ester Lauder counter and they will colour match you and you can ask for a sample. They give you a little plastic container with about a week's worth to try at home.

taytotayto111 · 30/09/2017 20:29

I swear by Doublewear but be careful it can cake up easily, less is more especially if you're new to it. You could try Doublewear light too. Also I like Revlon colourstay it's almost as good (I move between the three). However I've just got the today's special value on qvc which is a bare mineral foundation and going by the reviews on YouTube it's very similar to the doublewear.

MummytoCSJH · 30/09/2017 20:31

Another vote for doublewear, it's my holy grail.

BabyAlexander · 30/09/2017 20:34

I find bare mineral oxidises on me badly. Shame, up until it started doing that it was like the berocca of make up.

Revlon colourstay, you can get an oily skin version. Apply with a damp beauty blender.

creamcheeseandlox · 30/09/2017 23:06

Revlon colourstay for oily/combination skin.

totsalot · 30/09/2017 23:12

Another vote for revlon colour stay for oily skin. That stuff does. Not. Budge. My sister was a doublewear addict but even this converted her.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 30/09/2017 23:20

I watched a few YouTube comparisons with double wear and it came out better.
