I want to finally embrace my love of black...anyone else?

Ever since the age of 14 when I started having my own sense of style I've loved black. Cue 7 years of my Mum moaning that I wore nothing but black and it was so depressing (I did wear other colours). As I've got older I've heard lots of other comments (not often directed at me but still..) about how black is boring and ageing. All this has led to me wearing black with a vague idea that I shouldn't!
I'm 40 now, and still love black. It suits me (I'm a cool winter), and I feel good in it, and when I see others well dressed in black I'm very admiring. I now want to shake my feelings of shame and finally embrace my true love!
(I write this dressed in black lounge wear and a snuggly black cardi!)

Agree with the boring trousers / cheap generic top = awful statements below. Looks shit. There are cool ways to wear black.

My workwear is back and as I'm probably cool winter it works for me. I chuck on a bright scarf if I want a bit of colour. One colour wardrobes means I don't spend ages wondering if that jacket goes with that top. Simples!

I quite like navy, but it always makes me feel workish. Whereas black just feels more sexy. I can wear a black dress from work to dinner, but a navy dress just feels a bit formal

I feel like that about navy. In summer I switch from black and grey to navy and grey, buy it does have a work feel to it. In fact, I have a lovely navy winter cost that I don't wear as everything else is black. It's a perfect coat though, so I might try to dye it black!

Patterns are too difficult to pull off.
I like embossed black.
Am liking mock croc.

I wear black, greys and navy blue 99% of the time. I have a couple of party outfits in forest green. I love a stripy tee and tend to go for stripes in these colours too. I'm definitely a cool winter - grey/white hair, pale skin and blue eyes. So add silver accessories for glitz and know that turquoise and shocking pink work on me too.

Love that I can walk into shops and always get black and grey clothes!

Lego check out Kettlewell Colours clothing website - there's a questionnaire on colour there to get you started

Thank you all for joining me in my monochrome my musings. It's interesting a lot of us are cool winters. I have pale skin and dark hair, I also think black can look fab on blonds.
