Oily spot prone skin

Long time lurker but really would like some advice from the fab ladies on these threads.

Am 36 and have had greasy spot prone skin since was about 12 Shock. It goes through phases where it's a little better but for he past year or so it's driving me mad. Forehead is clear but I get spots on my cheeks, chin and behind my eyes?? Mainly under the skin ones and my pores look horrid too..: so even when I don't have particular spots it looks like my skins clogged and just rubbish?
Have tried all sorts and initially it might look better but within a few weeks it's back to the same problems.
Please can you recommend a decent affordable routine? Also the oil free moisturisers I've used help but also leave my skin feeling tight and it looks dehydrated?
Thanks in advance!!

What are you currently using?

I'm currently using Lidl micellar water followed by Darphin chamomile oil in the evening. Then Darphin rosewood cleanser followed by Lidl Q10 day cream in the morning. As the heating starts to go on I'll swap the micellar water for cleansing with emollient cream and warm water to keep it more hydrated.

It's keeping my skin as happy as I've ever managed, but I have rosacea and hyper-pigmentation to deal with.

Want2beme · 30/09/2017 15:24

Have you tried this before?

I've recommended it a few times on here. I haven't had one spot since I started using it about 5 months ago, and I used to get many a spot! Its not expensive either.

Try hibiscrub. Dilute it with water. I wash my face with it morning and night. I still get break outs but only hormonal and they go quicker!

I have similar skin, which is sort of under control now.
In the evening I use:
Body shop camomile cleansing oil
La Roche posay toleraine cleanser
Paula's choice 2% aha

In the morning I use the la Roche posay again and the bha
Then body shop defence moisturiser spf 50

Then make up if I want to.

For a while I was using epiduo from the GP which helped too but I found very drying.

BillStickersIsInnocent · 30/09/2017 17:02

Sorry it's the bha I use - with salicylic acid.

Butterfly1975 · 30/09/2017 18:32

I like using Avene Cleanance cleansing wash - great for oil control. However what really keeps my spots at bay is Nip and Fab glycolic fix serum - I use it at night especially when I can see a big spot appearing on my face and its pretty much gone by the morning!

washingmachinefastwash · 30/09/2017 18:34

Duac from your GP will work wonders. Try lush angels on bare skin cleanser and you use Duac as your moisturiser. If you wanted to put another one on top, I recommend dermalogica active moist.

lifestooshortandsoami · 30/09/2017 18:38

I thank you for all the replies!
I've been using neurogena grapefruit face wash in the oil control range, sometimes the Superdrug radiance cleanser to remove make up first, then the face wash, and then the neutrogena oil free moisturiser. I've also got the nip and fab glycolic pads which I've used once a week but am not sure if these are making my skin better or worse to be honest.
I've tried avene and lrp before and dermalogica ages ago (it did seem better when used dermalogica but can't really afford that at the mo!).
want2beme I can't remember the last time I didn't have a spot so will def try that!
Billstickers have wondered about the camomile cleansing oil but wasn't sure if it'd be too rich for my skin?
Thanks again all Smile really don't want to have rubbish skin for all of my life!
I've also been eating rubbish for the last couple of weeks so going to be good and drink tons of water again!!

Also could my pill be making my skin worse? I know people say it should make it better but have been on a different one the last few yrs and it seems worse? Am on marvelon?

I used to be on yasmin and it made my skin not bad as such, but not wonderful. Now on Noriday which is fab.

I have very reactive oily skin so when I find something that works I stick with it. At the minute I'm using banila co clean it zero cleanser twice a day, hylamide pore control, and the ordinary niacinamide + zinc serum which is cheap as chips and seems to have hugely cut down the oilyness. I've stopped moisturising in the mornings (don't know if that's a good or bad thing but it seems to work for me) and at night I use dead sea spa magik rich moisturiser - avoiding my chin which breaks out at the slightest whiff of anything rich or heavy.

My skin is not perfect but it's the best it's been in a really long time, and make up is lasting all day with minimal blotting. I actually have make up on the cotton pad when I take it off in the evening!

BillStickersIsInnocent · 30/09/2017 19:26

I was using the body shop camomile butter but switched to the oil as the former contains shea butter which I think I react to.
I use it for a first cleanse to remove make up.

Lilabard I've been thinking about getting the ordinary zinc and niacinamide so glad to hear it's good!

lifestooshortandsoami · 30/09/2017 20:34

Thank you. Where's the best places to get the ordinary products from?

OP posts:
LilaBard · 30/09/2017 20:49

You can get the ordinary (and hylamide) from deciem .com I think it is, they make them both but you have to spend a certain amount to get free delivery so it might work out cheaper to get it elsewhere. I can't bring myself to pay as much for p&p as the product itself! Other places that stock the range are ASOS, Victoria Health, Very Exclusive, I think Feel Unique do it as well

It's got some good reviews online, some bad ones, but it seems to work for me and for a fiver a bottle it's worth a try! Hope it works for both of you as well :)

MabelFurball · 30/09/2017 21:44

Interesting that a PP has stopped moisturizing in the morning. I am wondering whether to just use my BB cream without moisturizing first as my face is usually an oil slick by 10:30. During the Summer months I had quite a tanned face and just used moisturizer and powder, but now it is getting cooler need to rethink.

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/09/2017 21:56

Are you cleansing for long enough? I take 10 minutes when I wear make up.

lifestooshortandsoami · 30/09/2017 22:29

Thanks lilabard!
10 minutes fluffy cloud?! Yikes nowhere near and is never thought of something as simple as I'm not doing it for long enough.
Does anyone know what foundations best for oily/ spotty skin? I fall into the trap of wearing quite a heavy one cos I hate the way my skin looks......
