BOTOX - SHOULD I OR SHOULDN'T I?

I have really deep lines between my eyes on my forehead. They really bother me - I know it is vanity and a bit stupid but I'm an actor and it ages me unless I keep a fringe! I know it is not the end of the world and my skin is generally quite good but I want to know if this would make a difference...for the good or bad! Has anyone has any experience of botox/fillers?

If you decide to go for it choose your practitioner wisely and someone with a reputation for erring on the side of natural. Nothing worse than an actor with a frozen face.

lionsleepstonight · 29/09/2017 23:05

Course you should. The effects are pretty subtle. Its only those that pump masses in frequently that look odd!

ThespianTendencies · 29/09/2017 23:15

Thankyou. I'd tread with caution....I e always balked against cosmetic procedures but this sounds manageable.

I got botox recently for the same reason as I had really bad frown lines. I didn't find it that successful so was pretty disappointed.

CanIBuffalo · 29/09/2017 23:18

Well I've just watched Reese Witherspoon and her frozen forehead on Graham Norton maybe have a look at that on iPlayer first before you decide

WhatsGoingOnEh · 29/09/2017 23:19

Yes do it! It completely removed my frown lines. It’s awesome.

ShizzleYoDrizzle · 29/09/2017 23:20

Was just watching that Buffalo! Noticed her botox straightaway although she seems to have had it all over her forehead rather than just between the brows.

If you are an actor, then I wouldn't unless you have a lengthy sabbatical. The risk of it going wrong for most people is looking a bit "done". For an actor, the risk is possibly your career.

lionsleepstonight · 30/09/2017 08:26

I have it for the lines between my eyes and it makes a big difference. They've not gone completely but they are much reduced.
Overall had forehead lines done, and again depending on the look you ask for in your consultation it can be more natural (movement left/wrinkles visable or no movement/ smooth as silk)

Strongbeatsskinny · 30/09/2017 08:37

Give it a go if you don’t like it just don’t have it done again.

SpringBreak · 30/09/2017 08:42

Go to a surgeon not someone who did a three day course and got a certificate. Ask your actor friends who they go to. Be very clear with them what you want. Even doing it once can mess with the muscle memory enough to make a difference for a good year (speaking from experience, same lines)

splendidisolation · 30/09/2017 09:00

Dont bother. Lifes too short.

If you are an actress then I would have thought you would see your job as telling stories, and getting older is one of the most interesting stories I know.

When I watch films or tv I like to see some women who look roughly my age; not all the time - I realise the world doesn't revolve around me - but occasionally would be nice. Off the top of my head, the only movie actresses I can think of who get to play women my age are Meryl Streep, Diane keaton - who's ten years older, Helen Mirren - likewise and Jane Fonda who's nearly twenty years older.

Guess what, I go to the cinema less and less and the way things are going, my tv viewing will end up reduced to classic movies, football and anything written by Sally Wainwright.

Of course you didn't write the rules. You're trying to make a living in this world and I sympathise. But you asked for opinions and that is mine.

SpringBreak · 30/09/2017 11:06

Flousmw - the reason you don't see them is because parts don't get written for them, and when they are, an actress 20 yrs you get gets hired to do it. OP maybe speak to your agent- my guess is they will have a name they recommend/ have a deal with

Floisme · 30/09/2017 12:42

Yes thank you I had noticed that. That is why I said I sympathised

Mimifox · 30/09/2017 15:56

Just check out Reece Witherspoon on last nights Norton and the Banarama 'girls' who were all horribly smooth and shiney and the dark haired one (Keren?) who used to be gorgeous appeared to have had her teeth done badly.

We get wrinkly we get old ...
Ageing isn't for wimps...
But it's better than the alternative

BuzzKillington · 30/09/2017 18:40

Do it!

I had 2 deep and obvious frown lines between my forehead. Hated them - I always looked so cross.

Botox has all but eliminated them and I look so much better. Even when it wears off, I never go back to the frowny face I had.

Ignore the naysayers. Botox, like any cosmetic procedure, looks awful when done badly.

When it's good it's bloody fantastic.
