Rather, what does it mean to you?

How can I achieve it?

A beret, a bicycle. a fag.

DonkeyOaty · 29/09/2017 19:06

Air hostess level of grooming. Perfect maquillage, cunningly knotted scarf. Handbag/shoes matchy matchy.

I don't know really Grin.

Slarty [snigger]

LapinR0se · 29/09/2017 19:08

IHa I lived and worked in Paris and it's none of these things.
There is an artfully dishevelled, "natural" look which takes hours of grooming to achieve. Just google pics of Ines de la Fressange

ChoudeBruxelles · 29/09/2017 19:08

Very groomed. Only wearing black, grey, navy (or maybe deep plum if you're feeling adventurous) apart from a brighter scarf maybe. Perfect, natural makeup and coiffured hair.

TheDowagerCuntess · 29/09/2017 19:18

Audrey Tatou, Capucine Safyurtlu.

Must admit, I try to channel that look for work - I am a trouser wearer 99% of the time.

I use Pinterest to get ideas.

NormHonal · 29/09/2017 19:21

Black

hollieberrie · 29/09/2017 19:22

Lapin has it. Its a sexy , messy look. Not obviously groomed at all. Be thin, wear dark colours, have bed hair, that kinda thing.

mumofone234 · 29/09/2017 19:24

Clemence Poesy is French and really pulls off Parisian chic.

mmmammma · 29/09/2017 19:26

Ines de la Fresange wrote a book all about it. 👜

Why d'ja ask?

TheDowagerCuntess · 29/09/2017 19:37

The OP says she wants to try to achieve it.

Fekko · 29/09/2017 19:41

Oh I should start at the top of threads. My French friends just seem to take time to buy good pieces of clothing, take time to get hair cut/nails done/bits waxed,'don't drink much tea or coffee, and keep things simple - somclaaaic rather than flamboyant styles and patterns.

CredulousThickos · 29/09/2017 20:07

Anorexia, lung cancer and pelvic prolapse.

HTH.

CredulousThickos · 29/09/2017 20:08

(As in not eating, smoking a lot and shagging two weeks after giving birth, in case that was too subtle and I get accused of being a francist)

AFrayedKnott · 29/09/2017 20:16

CredulousThicko yes you are that was reallyhelpful, thanks. Confused

Everyone else: I read something about Parisienne women having more class and sass in their little finger. BlushWink Just wanted to buy into their style game, I guess.

I'm always tickled by the VERY limited colour palette that Parisiennes are allowed to wear. You often see brights / florals in shops, but who is wearing them!? Do they have a tourist-only label discreetly sewn in? Comme c'est bizarre.

RavingRoo · 29/09/2017 20:32

No matter their race, creed or colour, Parisian women all look homogenous. I prefer individuality personally.

Ktown · 29/09/2017 20:34

Not eating much.
Natural looking dishevelled sex hair.
Cold expression probably related to being surrounded by the best food in the world, but not being able to eat it.

Fekko · 29/09/2017 20:34

Chocolate. Lots of chocolate.

coldcuptea · 29/09/2017 20:35

I was in Paris recently and amazed by how very little makeup the women wear , if any . It was actually quite refreshing and made me realise how heavily made we are here in comparison

Fekko · 29/09/2017 20:38

It's probably a very carefully constructed 'nude ' look that takes 3 hours to spray on!

LunaTheCat · 29/09/2017 20:43

Inez, Audrey Tautau in "Amilie"
Artfully draped scarves
biker jacket plus floaty dress plus boots
looking after your skin
Red lipstick
Small and perfectly curated wardrobe.
Sitting in a cafe, coffee and crumbling a croissant with hand and hardly eating any of it

You actually do have to be French to do it - I am not - plus I am 5 foot nil and not skinny.

coldcuptea · 29/09/2017 20:44

It looked very bare to me . You can actually see skin - uneven tones , redness , etc. Just normal skin ! But they have lovely hair and nails and wear clothes that look well tailored .
