Have a lovely 6 week old DD. Gained weight during pregnancy and am feeling generally frumpy - I'm only early 20s but not feeling it.

I'm coming into some money tomorrow (unpaid wages from previous shit employer) - around £500. Am spending some on a weekend away but going to use the rest to buy myself some nice stuff.

I'd love a nice coat but have trouble with some due to massive boobs. Confused Am 5'8, size 16 hourglass. Gingery red hair, super pale - don't suit yellowy shades at all because of this.

So what should I buy?! What are good staples for a wardrobe? Shoes? Bag? Help!

Following with interest as you could have described me looks wise! Came on to look for ideas for a new winter coat. Going to treat myself to a new coat and boots when I find one I like!

If you have massive boobs then have a look on pepperberry (bravissimo clothes). They're cut for people with big boobs, I also find them flattering on my mum tum.

Odd one but Asda is great if you're tall with big boobs. My winter coat last year was £40 and I get complimented on it all the time

Thanks for the recommendations. Asda always fits well I find so I'll nip in and have a look tomorrow. Never looked at Pepperberry before so that could be great as nothing ever fits my chest. Was a 34G pre pregnancy probably more like a H now, bane of my life!

If you're only 6 weeks pp I wouldn't spend a lot on clothes just yet. I remembwr going on a shopping spree at Dorothy P of all places (cheap, lots of stretchy stuff and if youre picky, some nice shapes and colours) at about 2 months pp and then again at about 8 months pp for better, nicer stuff when I'd lost some of the weight

I think you've had some good advice. Invest in a coat and a nice bag/shoes and or a hair cut if you can get an hour away on your own. Your body will still change lots, but these bits may help you feel better about yourself.

I bought a longish grey coat from NewLook last year which got compliments where ever I went and was very versatile with coloured scarves/bags etc.

Might be worth having a wander round the local charity shops to see if they have anything. Means you don't spend so much on something for this first winter before you lose the baby weight.

I also want to say don't push yourself to bounce back too quickly. I had 3 in quick succession and although going back to work did at the time feel like a step towards normality (I wasn't good at being at home) it actually took much longer to actually feel like me again. It's really only now that my youngest has started at school that I truly feel like the me that existed prechildren. Admittedly there's been steps along the way like going back to work, the children sleeping through the night, having sex regularly again, starting to do regular exercise again, being able to devote myself to work again that helped and maybe in another 5 years I'll look at how far I've come from now. But be kind to yourself and don't set an unrealistic timetable. And remember you are so young, by the time you are my age your baby will have left home!

I agree with peppermeant. Don't buy any expensive clothing now as you are bound to lose weight.
