Teeth whitening options

Looking for the best toothpaste to get my teeth white or any other whitening options? My friends have suggested crest strips but I'm wary about using them as am breast feeding. I looked at getting the dentist to do it using UV light (so safe for BF) but at £250, it's a bit rich at the moment.

Just had a baby and trying everything I can to feel better in my skin so any advice welcome!

TIA

Crest strips wont harm your baby if your bf'ing?

Buy some bicarbonate of soda - dip a damp toothbrush in it and gently brush teeth. Also, strawberries whiten teeth.

But yes, a dentist would be the best and safest place to go - some even offer a payment plan.

I'm a dentist. I wouldn't whiten your teeth until you've finished breast feeding

I use the Colgate Max white one toothpaste and then use the Mr Blanc Teeth, Bamboo charcoal whitening tooth polish.
It has worked wonders on my teeth they look so much whiter and it hasn't cost me loads of money.

@NoArmaniNoPunani .. is everyone suitable for whitening? My teeth are in good shape and I see the hygenist regularly but I'm not if whitening would work for me as they are more yellow because of the lack of enamel with age rather than staining ( I think that makes sense )

Look up tumeric and teeth whitening. I have been researching as I have sore gums and I think I am going to try that.

Imjessie: if your gums are healthy and you don't have any crowns, veneers or fillings in the front teeth then you are likely to be suitable. The professional whitening penetrates the dentine to lighten the teeth so it doesn't matter if the enamel is thin.

My gums are healthy , I do have some receding but it's all under control . My teeth are all fine and my own , I have one tiny filling at the back . How does it affect your gums ? Does it always work or does it sometimes not work ? Thank you for your advice .. I used to have the most amazing white teeth and feel a bit sad that they aren't anymore .

I'm about to have mine whitened at the dentist (moulds and gel). In the meantime I was using that Pearl Drops pink paste and it's actually had such a good effect that when the dentist held up the chart I was near the top, a few shades off anyway so I think it's made a good difference. It was recommended on here...

Arm and hammer toothpaste which has bicarbonate soda in it is amazing. I had tried loads as I had stained teeth after a long period of depression/chain smoking/lack of self care, and it was the only one that worked, the stain was gone completely after about 6 months. If you just want a slight whiten it should do the job perfectly.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 29/09/2017 09:36

Imjessie it won't affect your gums if done by a dentist/hygienist, we just wouldn't do it on anyone with gum disease

hungrytillater · 29/09/2017 09:40

I use the Colgate toothpaste mentioned earlier, think it's the same one, red box, costs about £6, and find that really good.

PorklessPie · 29/09/2017 10:43

I ordered a Colgate two system paste from America which worked wonders.

Can anyone link to the pearl drops pink paste? There's so many I don't know which one it is Smile

MusicToMyEars800 · 29/09/2017 10:44

hungry Morrisons have it on offer for £2 most of the time, but I think it's around £4.50-£5 usually, Also boots usually have it on offer you get 2 for £5 Smile
