HoC summers - where and what to buy?

I had my colours done a couple of months ago, but with hindsight, I realise it wasn't very good. She kept insisting she could see the difference, but to be honest, I couldn't - although I could see it on the other woman there - who confessed to me when we were walking back to the car that she couldn't see mine either but had agreed with the consultant because she didn't want to be difficult Confused]Angry. The consultant rushed though it, I got the feeling she couldn't wait to get us out the door, there was no time for questions etc. Anyway, she said I was a summer, which I think is probably correct (same as CMB analysed me as about 25 years ago), but I didn't even realise till after that there were different types within each season.

So - feeling a bit stuck with how to use it. Plus everything in the shops just now seems quite dark. Had a look on Kettlewell, but I'm not finding it particularly inspiring, and as everything seems to fit multiple seasons I'm not sure what is actually 'me'.

I'm in the fairly happy position of needing a complete new wardrobe, and having a bit of cash set aside to shop. What would be a nice, basic, summer wardrobe for winter? I like soft, natural fabrics, work from home, and I'm comfort driven. I'm ok for trousers, thanks to Hush, it's mainly the top half I'm struggling with. Size 14-16.

I was"diagnosed" as a deep summer earlier in the year. Bit of a shock as I always thought I was an autumn!

On my shopping list:
Plum/berry/burgundy coat
Royal blue dress
Teal/sea green jumper
Airforce blue tops
Grey bottoms

I've bought a pink cardie which I'm not sure how I feel about so I'm sticking with blues/greens and neutrals for the time being.

Tbh I can't actually see any difference when I wear my colours. I sought of saw it on the day although I was traumatised by the pinks! As for all these compliments when you wear the right colours. Nope. Not a single one.

Not sure it was worth the money in that sense.

Well, she didn't tell me what kind of a summer I am meant to be, so I've been sticking with the darker colours as well, although I was wearing a berry coloured dress when I went, and she didn't seem enthusiastic about it. But like you, the pinks are making me twitchy! It's certainly not making me look in the mirror and wow myself either, and sod all compliments from others.

If you do suddenly "get it", let me know! :)
(And I'm not going to go and buy a load of scarves!).

I am not sure if this stuff is your style but Poetry might be what you are after. Natural fibres but ££. Beautiful clothes though. I think these are summer colours....

I do love Poetry, Squash and bought a fair bit from them last year, which I have now shrunk out of - have just taken a bag of stuff to the dressmaker to see if she can take it in. I've been looking this year and not able to decide if the colours were actually summer, spring or autumn. Only thing I was confident of was that they weren't winter!

Fat face have the odd really good plum pink colour which looks great on.

With the pinks you need to try them on Alot of pinks which you think you do not like are probably not summer colours anyway - bright pinks are not summer colours.
Sainsburys has some good pinks in sometimes.
Look for teal, marine green, burgundy (but not with brown in it so your berry dress might have been brownish too), grey blues, lilac, plum.
True red is a neutral you can wear.
Not my thing but I think mint velvet has some blues in at the moment.
Some of the poetry looks a bit brownish to me, particularly the first one and possible the last one.
I didn't think royal blue was a summer colour.

Just been diagnosed as a deep summer.
Unfortunately had self diagnosed as an autumn so my wardrobe is very wrong...
I really can't see the cool colours looking massively better on me and no compliments here either!
