Clarifying Shampoo!

Ladies, I am in need of a good clarifying shampoo! Since DD came along (she's 16 months now and I'm still waiting for my pre pregnancy hair to come back!) my hair has turned into a greasy, clogged up feeling mess! Which brands are worth checking out and which ones to avoid? Some seem quite expensive and I don't fancy paying that bit extra if it's just going to be shit lol

Redken Cleansing Cream.

Don't bother with anything else as it is the absolute bomb. I had crazy hormonal greasy waxy hair during breastfeeding etc and tried/wasted money on about 15 shampoos (including fairy liquid and apple vinegar etc) and it was the best by a mile. Use it a couple of times in a row then alternate with a normal shampoo as it can be drying like all clarifying shampoos are. It's about a tenner but you use a tiny tiny amount so a bottle lasted me for the guts of a year using twice a week.

Cakes thanks for the fast reply! I'll definitely check that one out! I don't mind about the price as long as it's good, and I'm definitely in need of a good one! Thanks Smile

I've been using the L'Oréal Elvive Phytoclear shampoo. It's an anti dandruff shampoo, but helps greasiness I find.

Also the new Pantene Micellar shampoo and conditioner. I'm not sure this is classed as a clarifying shampoo in that it will remove product build up but I have hair that can look greasy and lifeless if I use too many products or too rich a shampoo/conditioner and this is nice and light.

It is excellent honestly. Gets fantastic reviews online too.

Bumble and bumble Sunday shampoo is excellent.
I've used fairy liquid in emergencies too, brilliant but a bit drying so needs a good condition on ends after

My hairdresser recommended a Kerastase shampoo - can't remember name but it's a pale green bottle, says on it that it's specifically for greasy roots and normal/dry ends. I normally have to wash my hair every day but it's now Thursday and I last washed it on Monday (I will wash it today!!).
I thought it was expensive (about £16, I think?) so am using only a tiny amount and alternating with my previous shampoo, but it's definitely making a huge difference. My hair has always been greasy and I really wish I'd discovered this years ago!

Thanks for all the suggestions ladies, I'll definitely check them all out! Can't wait for my hair to stop feeling so meh Smile

I just use Vosene once a week. Does the trick.

Dustbunny1900 · 21/09/2017 16:16

If it's clarifying you're after, mix baking soda with your shampoo (just not everyday. And condition well afterwards)

Or do an apple cider vinegar rinse to balance ph and really get a good clean scalp..it got rid of any dandruff and flaking I had.

I have a greasy scalp so I shampoo the scalp, and only condition the ends. I get a boar bristle and gently but firmly brush the scalp area to stimulate it and disperse the oils

Joico clarifying shampoo (the one for chlorine) is excellent

DarkDarkNight · 21/09/2017 21:31

Agree with the Vosene too, I always go back to Vosene.

Thanks all! I didn't expect so many suggestions :) time for a bit of trial and error

L'Oreal Serie Professionnel Pure Resource for me. Love it.

ReallyConvolutedCareerHistory · 22/09/2017 01:20

Honestly just get a clarifying shampoo from the supermarket. I don't think there's much difference in the low and high-priced brands.

I use the Joico one on DD who goes swimming every week, and it has transformed the brushing experience!
