Hi has anyone removed gel polish themselves and if so would you mind please sharing what product you used?

You need to get some pure acetone from a chemist or beauty wholesaler. Then soak the nails for 10-20 mins and the police should scrape off quite easily with a orange stick. If u have a file, file the top layer off first so the acetone penetrates the polish.

After a while I find that mine just kind of lift at the sides and I can peel them off ( probably not supposed to) and then I use a strong nail varnish remover for the last few bits

Yy to acetone nail polish remover.

You can soak a cotton make up round in acetone and wrap foil around it. Leave it a goo while, like 20 minutes and then remove with an orange stick.

Mine peel too, but yes, don't think it's a good idea.

I removed mine once by peeling and took off the top layer of nail apparently, they were very brittle afterwards!

I use the acetone from the chemist too. As in the salon, soak little bits of cotton wool in it and tie in with foil. After 10 minutes you can start to run it off (one nail at a time) with an emery board. Sometimes I rewrap a nail to have a further soak. I usually do it whilst watching TV as it's a long process.

Otherwise you can book an appt for gel removal at any salon which offers gel nails!

Ah cross post Long...

Or do the wrap method as detailed above.

Last time I thought (Just before a Drs appointment) all mine needed was a quick wipe. Fail needless to say. Picked them off and left nails in right state. Next time I am going to have the woman who puts them on remove them .

NotSoSkinnyNow · 19/09/2017 20:35

I took mine off last night using the soaking/tin foil method as above. I used regular cutex remover, not pure acetone and it worked fine. I think heat also helps, so I put socks on over the foil, popped my feet into my slippers and just left it for maybe 45 mins while ironing and watching TV. Polish just slipped off, no need to scrape this time.

I love peeling mine off. The sheer satisfaction when the whole thing comes off in one go...

Spam88 · 19/09/2017 21:09

Yes to the foil method - gently file surface of the gel polish, dip cotton wool in acetone, place on nail and wrap in foil. Leave for at least 10 minutes, probably more. No scraping though! You'll damage the surface of your nail. The polish should just wipe off. If it doesn't, leave them a bit longer.

follow I love to peel as well
I then put on them and then leave them alone for a few weeks and mine are fine. In fact people often think I have acrylics even without gel as my nails are the one part of me that always looks good ( even got complimented by the MW while in Labour with DS)
