Calling all those slim of ankle and foot -where do you buy your shoes?

I can't seem to ever find a pair open open flats that fit me. If the length is right my feet still lift out as my ankles are so narrow. The only a slew I can wear have to have straps that hold my feet in. My ankle boots have to be lace up and fly boots are the only ones narrow enough to be comfortable.
I would dearly love a pair of moccasin type shoes that I could wear. I've tried heel grips but they keep coming off. I've tried insoles but my high arches make that really uncomfortable.
Is there any brand that caters for the narrow of foot and looks fashionable?

hopsalong just looked at my feet and the tops are pretty defined, my arches are also very high- hence the discomfort using insoles. Bloody feet, they look very elegant but are a bugger to kit out. Thanks for the ideas, I will look them up.

Agree with the Reiker and Stuart Weiztmann fans. Also Kurt Geiger. I'm loving my new Fly boots although this is the first pair from them that I've bought because couldn't get the right fit previously- maybe just luck with these.

Adidas for trainers!

This is an interesting thread. I have very narrow feet and find shoe shopping here a pain but a delight in the US. For some reason they have narrower shoes. I try to gravitate to US brands now but have also found LK Bennett good (although always have to size down) as well as Gabor. I'll also check out the other brands.

Penguins333 · 19/09/2017 00:09

Totally off the point and need to start a new thread about this I think but if anyone knows where there are overknee boots for skinny legs that don't fall down pleaaaaasse share Flowers

ZaZathecat · 19/09/2017 14:13

hopsalong I'm often tempted to buy a size smaller as they stay on and look nice, but my toes would be mangled (anyone see that IT Crowd episode where Jen buys new shoes - it would be like that). Would love my toes to shrink by a centimetre!

LoniceraJaponica · 19/09/2017 19:56

"PS do you find that you tend to buy shoes too small? I was buying smaller and smaller shoes to keep them on (e.g. a 6 at M&S or even a 5 1/2) and my toes were crammed right in at the end, which meant I kept stubbing them in my shoes."

Oh yes. I thought it was just me that had odd feet.

Stuart Weitzman and Hobbs

Some seasalt shoes are narrow (the lace ups).
Duo/ted and muffy - whatever they are now - have width fitting shoes (although only 3 widths)
Boden childrens/teen shoes go up to size 6 (some styles bigger) and are not all sparkly with animal ears (although you may like that) - and are narrow
Thanks for info on cole haan - I always look at them but not sure about ordering from states.

greenpeg · 20/09/2017 01:22

And yes i spent years buying short shoes before I realised it was the width not the length .....
Got some great boots from jigsaw once - all the reviews said they were too narrow to get on - hence reduced to £19 Grin

greenpeg · 20/09/2017 05:01

Ah scrap duo boots. They don't do shoes anymore and their ankle boots only come in standard and wide Confused

Squashit · 20/09/2017 08:09

Conkers- they will make them to fit your feet. Expensive with a bit of a crunchy vibe but extremely comfortable and resoleable.

Theseaweed · 20/09/2017 18:53

Hogl are also narrow but expensive. Have a look at Zalondo, they have lots of different makes. I do find more expensive shoes tend to be narrower!

ProperLavs · 20/09/2017 19:01

Yes, I had feared that having skinny feet wold be costly !

Forgot to say that on the high street I have had some luck with shoes from H&M (flats), Zara (have one excellent and narrow pair of ankle boots), and &OtherStories. e.g. have these ballet shoes which are pretty narrow:

Unfortunately I don't find them especially comfortable for other reasons -- after my Cole Haan cushioned bliss, the sole feels too thin and hard.

threads123 · 20/09/2017 19:41

I second Seasalt for narrow laceups and the Spanish type sandals were too narrow for me! I have extremely narrow heels too but I can wear Russell and Bromley loafers if they are patent leather and I wear a full insole. They are incredibly expensive but I look after them well and still have some after 10 years. Tamaris are also really narrow but the leather lasts only a couple of years before it looks grim in my experience. Some Shoon shoes fit. Duo shoes never fitted me, the narrow was too narrow and they are so expensive for what they are.

Marley45 · 20/09/2017 19:50

I have narrow feet and slim legs. I buy all my boots from Aldo

dementedma · 20/09/2017 19:57

I have found my people! lace ups are fine but I need/want to wear court shoes for work and walk out of every pair at the heel, even with heel grips. I ONCE had a wonderfully comfortable (if a tad frumpy) pair of plain black courts from M and S - footglove I think - which still are the only pair I have ever owned that stayed on and were comfortable. I wore them to death and almost wept when I finally had to bin them.....

greenpeg · 21/09/2017 01:01

There is also Medissa shoes - mail order but also have events in different places where you can try on.
Styles are 'mixed' (similar to James inglis) but worth looking at.

ProperLavs · 23/09/2017 21:06

I went to schuh today and asked a SA if they had shows that were narrower. She said their own brand tended to be so I tried on a pair of ballerina type pumps, sadly they were like boats. Then I went to Zara. I found a pair of embroidered heals that were perfect, I was so excited, but they were more evening wear. Then I tried some boots ina size down as Zara length seems long and they fitted really well and they weren't lace ups! So I bought them! I have also ordered a fitting guide for some specialist company and will send it back and wait to see what they say.
