Uniqlo Sizing?

chloechloe · 18/09/2017 08:46

Thanks to Mumsnet I've decided I need some Uniqlo in my life! Mainly knitwear, underlayers and leggings trousers.

I get the impression they don't follow the trend for feel good sizing, so what should I go for?

I'm a size 10 hourglass (34 DD chest, big hips, skinny legs). In other MN favorites, I'm a small / 10 at Hush, 8-10 at Boden. (Johnnie gets my business by misleading me that I could actually be an 8).

Will Medium do for jumpers and trousers? Or would a large be better for knitwear? I like a bit of slouch but not too oversized.

My chest is 34 dd and I get size L knitwear from Uniqlo (overall I'm a size 14). In your position, I'd probably try medium so it isn't too tight round the chest.

Generally Uniqlo come up very small. I am a 6 in some stores and and 8 in others. For any clothes that are tight fitting I go for a small or medium. For loose fitting clothes I go for small or extra small.

As a first time shopper it might be best to try stuff on, to give you the overall fit. I have exceptionally skinny arms, shoulders and back. My DD who's wears the same size as me, is a bit fleshier and finds Uniqlo a tight in the bust and under the arms so goes for medium.

Hijacking the thread here, but I'd also like to know if their tops are short in the body? I keep looking at their stuff, but I'm 5' 11 and need longish tops!

WhatHaveIFound · 18/09/2017 09:18

I'm a 34F and generally a size 12. I buy Medium in Uniqlo tops.

Islets, I'm 5'11 too and I'm ok with their jumpers but haven't tried any tops. Do you ever shop in any tall brands? Long Tall Sally, New Look and Top Shop often have nice stuff. For something more premium JCrew have a tall section and actually Long Tall Sally have premium range with some very decent basics too.

My god I'm an 18/20 and I'm off to London next month and was going to give the place a try. I'm mad looking for a nice white shirt. But I'm thinking now I shouldn't bother as it sounds like nothing will fit. When will places realise we're not all skinny. Mind you it's better that it was for plus size shopping 20 years ago so I shouldn't complain. What's the quality of their clothing like? Is it better than say primark?

I have seen loads of women of all sizes shopping in there. Don't be put off by us littlies Believe it or not, we have trouble getting things that fit 'all over' . Usually stuff hangs of my shoulders or the sleeves cover the ends of my fingers. A lot of their stuff is unisex so you could try the men's sizing for a looser fit. If I can't find what I want I buy men's extra small. I think that is where they stand out from the rest, because they do cater for real bodies. My OH is also short and skinny, so he shops there too. It is the only man's shop he uses.

Quality varies but it is good value for money. Definitely not high fashion but good every day wear. I love the lounge wear.

Thanks for the replies, I think I'll order a couple of sizes as I have to pay for delivery where I am but there are free returns.

Astrantia you've reminded me I wanted to try the loungewear as well!

Thanks Jojosm2!

I was in there at the weekend. I'm a size 8 and about 5ft 5". I was an xs in the trousers (not a lot of room but s were big on bum) and a M in the crew neck merino jumpers. The S were ok but felt a bit tight on the upper arms.
