Shirts for work...comfortable and easy-care?...the holy grail...

Is there such a thing as a shirt for work which is:

  • easy iron
  • no fussy collars - I like grandad collars for example
  • expensive/classic looking
  • comfortable?

I'm looking at silk shirts online eg M&S but they strike me like they would feel cold/uncomfy in the winter. OR would you just wear a tshirt underneath?

I've had a few drip-dry polyester things from tesco in the past and although they have been easy to care for, they strike me as a little, ah, cheap and nasty if anyone was judging!

Many thanks! Grin

Uniqlo heat tech vests are what work under nice work shirts in winter. They have some good shirts in at the mo too. I bought 3 last time I was in.
Bit like this.

That's a v nice shirt! And no fussy collar! Might be a touch on the casual side though (I work in law).

I like pussybows!

Thanks!

That particular one - something about the neck-tie would annoy me I think - but the prices are no bad!

I like the cuff details on it.

Have always coveted a shirt I could wear with cufflinks!! More places to wear bling, after all!

I came across these earlier navy and white which I thought looked nice.

BTW, silk is lovely in the winter, I wear a silk vest for toastyness.

Silk is fantastic and keeps you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. I have little silk camisoles from Boden which I wear under thin blouses, keeps me decent and cozy!

I often get polyester blouses from places like Warehouse or Club Monaco. Before you cringe- there's polyester and there's polyester. It's possible for it to be well tailored and look smart and not see-through or shiny etc. Extremely easy care.

True! I do have a polyester tunic from M&S that I absolutely love! Maybe one just needs to be discerning...
