Just that really; where can I buy Scandinavian style jumpers?
If they can go in the washing machine even better.

Thank you.

Pass - I made my own ;-)

BuenosNoches · 17/09/2017 13:23

I love it too Grumpy.
Trouble is, all that wash inside out and dry flat where do people dry things flat? would stop after a while and I'd bung it on the handwash cycle in my machine and shrink it.
Obviously, that's my own fault.

norwayshop.com/en/ and www.nordicstore.net Icelandic ones. Now to find uk based stores : www.nordicoutdoor.co.uk and eu.daleofnorway.com

AnaisB · 17/09/2017 13:25

I'd say hand wash cycle would be fine as long as you use non-bio wool wash buenos.

ZaraW · 17/09/2017 13:27

I got mine from Iceland but Etsy have some really nice traditional ones.

Anatidae · 17/09/2017 13:29

Like a lopi? Learn to knit :) super quick and easy to whip one up.

Viserion · 17/09/2017 13:30

I have been listing after one of these for about 3 years. I can not justify the price though. www.gudrungudrun.com/inka.html

Uniqlo are doing a collaboration in next few weeks (can't remember the designer) with some chunky looking nitric Nordic knits. Sign up for the newsletter,I think...

I've got some great ones from eBay and LLBean.

bingohandjob · 17/09/2017 13:50

Eg these Fair Isle knits www.uniqlo.com/jwanderson/uk/en/sp/women/

BuenosNoches · 17/09/2017 13:59

Anatidae I used to knit when I was a child so I tried again recently.

So far I've managed a not-scarf-not-blanket in a chunky knit, for a starter knit it's not too bad but as I am only starting out again I certainly couldn't manage a jumper!
I'm aiming for a scarf next time Grin

It is expensive / but good wool is pricey. I'm knitting a sweater for toddler ds at the mo and it's going to take about thirty quid a worth of wool.
Then time to do handwork- ifnits hand knitted it's expensive.

Let me find some links for you if I can.,, I'm sure people sell them out on the isles and over here.

Anatidae · 17/09/2017 17:03

Ok yeah it's pricey!

handknit.is

The lopi wool isnt expensive though and it knits up fast.

ZaraW · 17/09/2017 17:33

Mine is from icewear.is the quality is excellent.

museumum · 17/09/2017 17:35

"Dry flat" by laying a folded airer over the bath.
A day is generally enough flat and then when it's barely damp you can hang normally.

Anatidae · 17/09/2017 18:05

Go on etsy and search for 'lopapeysa' - there are loads at a variety of prices.

Anatidae · 17/09/2017 18:07

We have an airer that has a horizontal bit. I wash my woolies in shampoo, or wool wash, then roll up in a dry towel and squeeze gently. Then lie them flat on another towel over the airer and reshape.

LunaTheCat · 17/09/2017 20:22

Toast have one now but is super- expensive.

NearLifeExperience · 18/09/2017 08:59

Ah, how coincidental: I love Norwegian jumpers but thought I'd never be able to afford one, but found one on eBay last night that I bought straight away for £25.

It's worth noting that wool doesn't need much washing and doesn't hold on to smells, so no need to worry about washing a wool jumper very often.

Squashit · 18/09/2017 12:30

Woolovers do a fairisle tunic and it is on sale. Very good quality and generous sizing too.

motmot · 18/09/2017 13:36

I was just going to say that about proper wool. It's naturally antibacterial so won't hold smells and stays pretty clean. You can spot clean any rogue bits of melted chocolate!

Try eBay- I got a truly gorgeous Norwegian cardigan, unworn and so cosy, for £5 last year.

BuenosNoches · 18/09/2017 16:24

Thank you everyone, I like lots of them including the Woolovers one.

I really love some of the others but I don't think I can justify spending £200+ on a jumper, especially as I can only wear it at weekends.

It's interesting that wool doesn't hold onto smells, that's useful to know.

Please do add any others if you know of them.
