Style makeover - help needed

I'm mid 30s, 5'7" and a size 14 with a 34dd bust. Figure similar to Martine mccutcheon or nigella i.e. quite hourglass shape with boobs, waist & hips. I also have dreadful legs and chunky thighs. My height is mainly in my upper body so my legs are on the short side which doesn't help the appearance of my thighs. My colouring is sort of pale skin, blonde hair.

So, onto the problem. I always feel every other woman looks so much better turned out than me. I just don't know how to dress myself well or where to go to find suitable clothes. I don't dare ask anyone IRL to help me, I'm very shy and would hate to broach the subject with friends. I'm prepared to throw money at the situation, but I do need advice on high street rather than designer options.

I would like suggestions for both casual wear and some more smart/casual office stuff. Jeans, boots, tops, dresses, winter coat - the works basically. I'm thinking in terms of cost a capsule type wardrobe would be best here. I mentioned my shyness, this is also relevant in as much as I don't want to wear anything that would make me stand out, I don't dislike colour but wouldn't feel comfy in anything too bold.

So if anyone fancies a project and can suggest specific options or advice pointing me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it. And if you got this far through my ramble thanks for reading!

Hi Naughty. As a starting point, what about looking at Pinterest for ideas of clothes that you like and that would suit your shape? You could also pick a company whose clothes that you like, order a good selection online and try them on at home. Take photos of yourself wearing them and decide which you like. If none suit, just send them back but you will have ruled out certain styles. You could go to a big department store and do the same - just try lots on. If you're feeling really brave, a personal shopper in Debenhams or John Lewis might help you to work out your style. Good luck.

Thanks Oh2, I did consider a John Lewis personal shopper as its free but my DH sort of made me feel I didn't need to do that - he thinks I look fine as I am. But I think it might help. I always get a bit overwhelmed when I go shopping or look online as there's just so much I don't know where to start. Going to bite the bullet and book a personal shopper slot.

I also tried Pinterest per your suggestion but not sure I'm searching right, I do see outfits I like but then don't know where to go to get the pieces?
