Back to brunette from blonde

Decided to get my brunette hair bleached blonde and I don't like it. Cost me £100 and I don't fancy spending another £100 at the moment. I've heard you should dye it red first then brown to stop it going green. Is that true? Any tips? Am I best using semi permanent kits so they're kinder to my hair condition? X

I really wouldn't attempt that yourself as your hair could end up all kinds of weird and wonderful colours. I'd go to a hairdresser if I were you.

Also if it's bleached it's probably porous and will find it hard to retain colour long-term.

Why not have lots lowlights put in first, then gradually go back to brunette, wont cost as much at hairdressers probably

I had my heavily highlighted hair taken back to brown by my hairdresser in March and it literally lasted 2 weeks and all washed out - it was meant to be permanent.
I put a colour on myself last weekend, did some research online and put a warm brown on as advised. My hair has gone dark brown with chestnut tones - it's not too bad but it looks like it's dyed ifykwim. It's not the colour I wanted but actually I quite like it now and it's autumnal. Personally I wouldn't do it yourself unless you are prepared for it not to look exactly like your natural colour. The blonde will go a reddish colour and I would say don't use a dark brown dye and only go for warm or red toned colours. Anything ash will go green.

No no no!!

I hope you didn't try this yourself in the end.

You need to see your hairdresser again. He/she is properly trained in the colour chemistry and theory. You are not.

Is it that is maybe just too much blonde? What about some lowlights through it? Or some reverse balayage to give it some dimension?

I did this. I had blond highlights, got fed up and used Nice and Easy to colour it. Was surprisingly good. Washed out within a couple of weeks so I did it again, took much better second time round.

Get it balayaged , it will be a softer look and they can use the blonde that is already there . Will cost you though .
