Gah! I've got myself so muddled up with coats and jackets. I need .... something .... bear with me. Actually, it's another one of those, I'm 50 and lost threads!!
I have a very tired Joules quilted jacket which is years old and my spring/autumn go to. It needs replaced. With what? I don't want a parka but not sure what I want. Tried this on in store and it's nice on but will it fill that hole or will it be too warm looking come April?
Then my 'winter coat', ie the good, wool, knee length number is so old and really needs replaced. I'm talking double figures years old. I'll come back to that.
And just to complicate matters, I tried on the most beautiful leather jacket in Jigsaw a few weeks back and can't get it out of my head. Beautiful leather, warm lining, so flattering on.
And just to fill gaps I've my sort of every day cold weather, down filled Hilfiger lojger lenght jacket and a hall cupboard with waxed barbour, aigle etc of varying ages but all wearable in the right conditions.
So, leaving budget out of it (will worry about that later 😉), advise me please. My wardrobe is based around blue jeans, brown or tan boots but then anything resembling a dress or skirt is black or accessorised with black. So with the leather jacket, I tried it in navy and it will go with the rest of my wardrobe but I can't then wear it with skirts/tights/boots cos you don't wear navy with black, right? If I were the invest in a leather jacket, is navy a wearable colour or would black be a wiser buy?
Then to the coat ... really, it's Church, funerals or good old-fashioned 'Sunday best' wear. Existing coat is black, I fancy navy but it won't match what I want to wear it with. Other colour suggestions .. camel, or is that naff or aging?
Sorry, it's a rambling one ... no-one sensible to ask really in real life so putting it out to you guys. I guess my questions are whether the Barbour would be a wise buy or can anyone suggest an alternative and with the other two, black, navy, another colour? And the wisdom of investing in a leather jacket - do you all get the wear out of yours?
If you've got to here ... you've done well! Cheers!
