How to get hair silky smooth?

I've tried to copy what my hairdresser does but my hair never looks anything like the same - it's so annoying.

I'm after silky smooth locks..
Am I missing a trick?!

Could be all sorts of things. Shampoo, type of styling brush or tool, type or amount of styling product, temperature used to dry, technique, not letting hair cool out properly.
Or it could be the water. I live in a hard water area, my hairdresser has a couple of lime scale filters so the hair feels much smoother after washing even before any styling products or styling.

Well I've tried most shampoos in the market with very little difference, I use a ghd brush same as my hairdresser and a dyson hairdryer. But I am in a hard water area - maybe that's it?!

I've recently ditched shampoo in favour of co-washing with a cleansing conditioner. Hair is much better already!

No idea why that went twice Confused

Which cleansing conditioner do you use? And what does co-washing mean?

It was one I bought from Amazon called 'as I am.' Just means conditioner washing. There's loads of advice online if you Google

Def try co washing. My hair is thin and dead straight, so not an obvious candidate for co washing, but it's made it much softer and not at all greasy. I just use any silicone free conditioner.

Is co- washing suitable for greasy hair that needs washing daily?

spankhurst · 16/09/2017 21:00

Probably. My hair seems to get less greasy than it did. You might need to try a few products before you get the right one.
