Bit of a rant. And a question. Lighthearted.

So I bought some new clothes for last autumn/winter after chucking out old gear. Warm skirts, jumpers etc etc. But it was really mild here last year so I didn't wear the stuff much.

This year I bought shorts and sundry summery stuff. But it was really cold, dull and meh for much of the summer. So again, clothes did not get much of an outing.

So, what would you do? Hope to get a proper chilly winter and blithely wear last year's clothes. Or buy new stuff for 2017/18 (budget allowing). You couldn't do otherwise; it would be so last year!!

I tend to buy pretty neutral/classic pieces so they don't date too quickly or transitional items that I can wear for the perpetual Spring/ Autumn we have with the odd week of blazing sun or icy cold. I tend to go for brighter colours and patterns with shoes hanndbags, accessories. The items are get the most use out of which probably cost the most - proper waterproof mac, really warm coat, waterproof shoes and boots which,I think because I researched best fit for purpose and got in neutral/classic style and colours I hope to wear to death.

I've got "summer holiday" stuff which I bought a few years back which I unpack, wash, and put back in the suitcase for next time - stuff I don't think it's worth having in my day to day wardrobe as it's never that sunny nor do I lounge around a pool in the UK Confused to wear it.

Keep and wear as appropriate, why not?

MargotLovedTom1 · 14/09/2017 15:13

Why on earth wouldn't you wear last year's clothes? Confused.

MistyMinge · 14/09/2017 15:16

Unless you're Victoria Beckham then I see no reason to not wear last year's clothes. Just buy a few pieces that allow for milder weather.

Just interested because I'm not naturally a fashionista Smile

Exactly Margot

Why the hell wouldn't you 'blithely' wear last year's clothes?? Do you think they'll have dated that quickly? What on earth did you buy?

OuchLegoHurts · 14/09/2017 15:18

Well tobee, rest assured that even fashionistas wear clothes for more than one year!

I normally wear jeans and t shirt and was trying to make an effort to be a bit less scruffy!

Stuff I bought last year is still new-ish in my eyes Grin

I have things that are years old. If I like them and they are still looking ok I wear them.
