I have nice skin. It my puffy under eye bags spoil my appearance. I always look tired and a bit grumpy.
Looking at my mum I can see it's hereditary.
Any suggestions?
I'm just 50 btw

Following for tips! I'm in my early 30s but the bastard eye luggage has suddenly appeared in the last few months.

DM had her eye bags surgically removed which I now think I'll inevitably have to copy down the line but for now something less dramatic would be nice! She rarely looks tired and no one knows she had it done.

It's so annoying isn't it? I never thought I'd consider cosmetic surgery but I loathe the way my eyes make me look.

Piles cream!!! A makeup artist taught me that when I used to model and it really works to tighten the bags!

A couple of teaspoons chilled in the fridge and pressed onto the offending areas.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 14/09/2017 08:28

My eyes are far more puffy in the morning if I use a night cream on them Miracle not sure why.

Drinking lots of water helps a bit, avoiding alcohol the night before and sleeping slightly propped up are my boring suggestions.
I've heard of the pile cream tip too. Renee Zellweger said once in a magazine article that she swore by haemorrhoid cream on her eyes before big events.
Although I think she's binned that and had extensive plastic surgery now. Confused

Estée Lauder Night Repair Eye Gel has made my eyes far worse. I'd stay away from anything too "manufactured", if I were you. I started using a Boots cooling gel one and kept it in the fridge. It helped a bit. I've also given up the 🍷.... THAT'S made a huge difference to my face generally.

Lancôme hydrazen

Rainymorningblues · 14/09/2017 09:27

Everyone says piles cream, but no one suggests which one! I've heard that it only works if it has a certain ingredient in it that not all of them have.

I also can't help thinking that if it did work like people say it does....that everyone wouldn't just be doing it Hmm

BriocheBriocheBrioche · 14/09/2017 09:30

My under eyes aren't too bad but when I've had a rough night with the kids I use the ordinary caffeine undereye gel/stuff and that seems to help a lot.
It was only a few quid so worth a try.

withlotsoflove · 14/09/2017 11:31

You can't use pile cream long term
as it will thin out the delicate skin in that area!
Preparation H used to be a favourite with the models...
for emergencies only! 😉

OttersPocket · 14/09/2017 11:44

My puffy under eye area turned out to be hereditary bags (thanks Dad). I tried EVERYTHING but gave in and had blepharoplasty a few months ago. Obviously not a cheap solution but it's worked.... (I'm 35 and looked so tired and miserable all of the time).

I have the same problem Miracle I don't want wrinkly eyes but then they look puffy with cream!

Perhaps eye gels containing caffeine are the way forward? Haven't tried those.

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/09/2017 14:02

I've had undereye bags for years. I recently started very low carb eating and the bags have vanished. All gone. Completely. EVEN FIRST THING IN THE MORNING.

'Tis truly miraculous.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 14/09/2017 14:04

I was hoping there was an easier solution than giving up cake Grin

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/09/2017 14:24

Grin It's cheap though!

margaritasbythesea · 14/09/2017 20:14

If it's any help, I low carb and don't drink much and still have them. Gah.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 14/09/2017 21:11

Oh dear the worst of both worlds Margarita! You might as well have these Wine Cake

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/09/2017 21:15

But margarita just think of how much worse they would be if you were stuffing your face with Cake and Wine

Tatiana1986 · 14/09/2017 22:06

No7 Youthful eye serum does wonders to my under-eye area

blueshoes · 14/09/2017 22:52

Lower blepharoplasty. Seriously, just bite the bullet. If the cause is fat pads under the eyes (strong hereditary element), nothing is going to remove or reduce them but surgery.

If cream is causing puffy eyes, then try facial oil instead? I find that at 50, only facial oil does the job of moisturising.
