How do you style/groom your eyebrows?

I do a bit of plucking to keep them a bit smaller and neater but have never done anything else. I want to look a bit more well groomed but don't know how to go about it! I still want them to look reasonably natural though. Any tips?

Find a really good brow lady. I've tried and failed to maintain mine for years and ended up with odd, awful brows.

A good wax and tint from a reputable person will do wonders. Check facebook and instagram for pics from local salons and recommendations

ElspethFlashman · 11/09/2017 20:12

There's an Eyelure double ended thing in Boots I really really like. Tinted gel on one side, clear on the other. I don't use both at the same time but it's nice to have the choice as the clear side just gives definition but the tinted side makes them stand out more.

Redcrayons · 11/09/2017 20:14

Threading.

I've got dark eyebrows so don't need tinting.

colonelgoldfish · 11/09/2017 20:14

I've found nothing better than threading. Sit in the chair and let them work their magic. My eyebrows look so groomed after that I just give them a quick brush to smarten them up in the morning and off I go.

wildthoughtz · 11/09/2017 20:14

Threading. Literally a brow saver. Few mins of pain but groomed brows at the end. I would reccomend finding a good brow lady and sticking with the one person. I've been going to mine nearly 10 years now.?

QuilliamCakespeare · 11/09/2017 20:24

Following this with interest! My brows need some attention but I'm a bit scared to actually let someone lose on them in case they turn me into Katie Price. I've been using a No7 eyebrow pencil with a brush on one end and colour on the other but just to darken them up rather than shape them. My eyebrow hairs are quite long somehow and unless they're a bit glued in the place they get all unruly. Blush

MrsRonBurgundy · 11/09/2017 20:27

Mine are really mousy so I have them tinted each month. Also have them waxed at the same time and she finishes off with a bit of plucking.
I don't mean to sound dramatic, but it's changed my life Grin

tehmina23 · 11/09/2017 20:28

My eyebrows are dark blonde & fine (like my hair!!!). I rarely need to pluck.

I use Clinique Superfine liner for brows in Soft Blonde to make them look thicker but natural.

AccrualIntentions · 11/09/2017 20:28

Pluck them to tidy up, brush through them with a spoolie and fill in any gappy bits with light strokes from a pencil.

Lanaa · 11/09/2017 20:30

Get them threaded so you get a good shape, then tidy up with tweezers and nail scissors as required.

I recently got mine microbladed and they look fab.

MujosMama · 11/09/2017 20:32

I am unlucky enough to have a killer mono brow and a top edge that basically meets my hairline. So I get them waxed and tinted (don't have greys in my hair yet just my eyebrows!) every 4-6 weeks. Definitely get them done professionally and ideally get a recommendation off someone who's brows you like, I once had them threaded and she basically stole them, it took years for them to grow back

tangledup123 · 11/09/2017 20:36

I pluck mine, but just to neaten them up rather than reshape them. Then because I have such long and unruly eyebrow hairs I have to trim them every few weeks, which makes them look neater. And maybe a bit of clear eyebrow gel. I prefer the natural look so don't bother with eyebrow pencil etc.

marzipananimal · 11/09/2017 20:41

Thanks for the replies, although I don't understand all the names of things! Quilliam I'm with you on the long unruly hairs - if I remove them my brows will be too sparse but they can look very untidy on a bad day. I think I need to be brave and find a professional

I go to a lady who does threading, she's incredible and the pain is fleeting compared to waxing (which made my eyebrow area swell up so I looked vaguely caveman-ish).

OCSockOrphanage · 11/09/2017 20:47

I brush with a spoolie, and have the unruly ones threaded out, after tinting, I don't do ANYTHING until the dye fades, and then I boost the colour a bit. Then, it's back to start, and repeat. Over about six weeks if I'm attentive or eight weeks if I'm not.

PrimalLass · 11/09/2017 21:38

I just pluck them into a nice shape.

LentilBaby · 11/09/2017 22:33

Threading is my first choice. You get such a straight line due to the nature of the threading action which looks so groomed. Apparently threading does not cause hairs not to grow back like over-plucking can.
I use Benefit Brow Zings to fill in sparse areas (I have many!), I mix the wax and the powder together and apply with a long handled slanted brush rather than the little brush provided. This gives it a more natural look.

roundturnandtwohalfhitches · 11/09/2017 22:38

A sharpie. Only kidding. I use an eylure brow pencil in mid brown which is pretty good and a light plucking occasionally.

terrylene · 11/09/2017 22:38

Pluck the shaggy bits/stray bits out, and give them a quick brush after the shower.

caffelatte100 · 11/09/2017 22:43

I would book an appointment at Benefit where they also do brows, threading and so on. I really love their products, they work so well but there are SO many to choose from it can be confusing. I've got the brow zings which a poster already mentioned. much more natural than just using a pencil. There are all kinds of fun products though....

Waitingforsherlock · 11/09/2017 22:46

What can be done for brows that are dense nearer the nose end but sparse and a bit long on the outer edge? Can they be dyed on the sparser areas to match the denser bits? I think that threading would probably make mine look too sparse. I over plucked In my twenties and have the legacy of that now. I would love to look groomed but am too scared to go to a salon in case it looks worse.

bananafish81 · 11/09/2017 22:48

Threading every few months and just tweeze the odd stray in between. Don't have much to thread, it just creates the shape, which I can maintain. Threading does trim the odd long one which I'm too nervous to attempt myself however! Always a decent pair of tweezers - I prefer Rubis (space nk's tweezers are Rubis) over tweezerman.

Tint every 6 weeks, and use a few strokes of Too Faced archery pen / pencil to fill in any sparse areas

BeatriceBeaudelaire · 11/09/2017 23:02

Brush them up and trim then pluck into shape .. easy

LentilBaby · 11/09/2017 23:11

Sherlock, I would probably use a brow powder on the sparse ends of your brows. Powders look really natural and are easy to use. I would ask at the Benefit counter to try a brow powder and let them apply for you.

MonkeyDontTalk · 12/09/2017 06:38

Another Benefit brow bar convert, it was good to see their products on me before I bought them. Plus being just over 40 I didn't feel comfortable with the whole brow trend and just wanted to keep my brow as natural as possible.

I had a brow over with make-up then booked back in for a brow wax, they only wax underneath the brow. Previously I had them threaded elsewhere where they do above too.

I mainly use their "gimme brow" which has tiny fibres in that thicken my brows where they are a bit sparse.

My natural eyebrow finishes short of where it should but I don't extend it because I feel it looks ridiculous on me.
