Best at home hair dye to cover (small amounts of) grey?

As the title says - what do people like using? I can't afford to get my roots done at the hairdressers anymore, and my friend has kindly offered to help me apply any dye properly. If it matters, I just want to dye it a dark chocolate brown. Thanks

I just use the Clairol root touch up kit , get it in Tesco for under £5
Just a little bit in the kit and a brush to apply to roots
I use this every four weeks

Thanks loadsa - did you use the regular non touch up kit the first time you used it?

I spent most of the day yesterday henna-ing mine and DD's hair, so the mess and faff is fresh in my mind! Looks, smells and feels really lovely, though. The best thing is that it deep conditions it as well, and fades gradually and naturally so that you don't get the appearance of obvious roots.

I use Lush henna. Do bear in mind that you can't dye it with normal hair dye until the henna's grown out, though.

Henna here too

I just use the root touch up kit when it's on offer

If I'm really skint I just buy any medium brown dye from Poundland and keep the little plastic tray and brush that has came with the clairol set and brush it on my roots using that

V cheap and effective
It's literally just for my parting and round my ears and hairline so works ideal
