Lazy hair...?

I'm looking for a product recommendation please... I have shoulder length hair that I usually blow dry straight. It's been dyed within an inch of its life so probably not in the best condition, although it's not brittle. If I leave it to dry naturally it's just a frizzy mess (but not curly, or straight, or anything that looks like a style), so I'd like to be able to scrunch it (is that too 80s? Will I be laughed at when I leave the house?) but need a product like mousse but that doesn't leave my hair crispy. Any ideas?? Or can I just not be that lazy and actually have to put effort in?

Is it all one length?
Thick or fine?
What is the look you would like to achieve?
My hair is just above bra-strap length, and wavy. I loosely follow the curly girl method, but do shampoo it once a week. You can improve the condition of your hair, and the frizz, if you stop using silicone, and drying alcohol based products. I condition my hair, leave a little in, add
mousse and then leave it to dry. Some days it hangs in ringlets, other days it is wavy, so not consistent, probably depends on how much product I use. The frizz has definitely improved, but took a while.

Yes it's all one length, and quite thick. It looks lovely either curled properly (as in with curling wand or straighteners), or scrunched for the first day. After that it's just a blah kind of mess. It's not naturally curly but does curl / scrunch really easily. Same with blow drying straight.
I just want it to look easy, if that makes sense. Not too messy but not like I've got dressed up either. Just day to day hair.
I'll have a look at that method you mentioned, thanks.

I know you ate not naturally curly, but have a look at Curly Girl Method. It gets your hair into really excellent condition, with minimum styling input.

Shea moisture curl soufflé ! Or Shea moisture condish mixed with water and sprayed on hair before scrunching. I suppose any good silicone free conditioner would be just as good if you did it with that but I'm very partial to Shea moisture (the curl line, I think it's coconut and hibiscus)
I also find putting my hair in loose braids at bedtime gives me beautiful waves without heat damage.
Work on bringing the health back to your hair with coconut oil overnight masks (wash it out next morning with shampoo and condition) and maybe a hair cholesterol treatment . Try cleansing conditioners

Old school I know but you could try plaiting it when wet and taking it out when dry, don't brush it afterward though! Just loosen it with your fingers.

Cross posted re the braiding idea
