Does this shampoo exist?

My hair never feels clean and it's driving me crazy.

I dye my hair, so I use ones for coloured hair. I've tried ones without silicon etc but nothing seems to work. The only shampoos that do make it feel clean strip out the colour.

Has anyone got any recommendations?

Thanks.

I think its perfectly normal for hair to start feeling a bit greasy again quickly. Just wash it every day if it needs it. The really clean feeling means your hair has been stripped, which will wreck it, especially if you start using really harsh detergents on it like washing up liquid.

It really doesnt need to be squeaky clean.
Wash it with any shampoo you like and if you need to do a bit of dry shampoo later in the day then that will be far better for your hair than stripping it

UnicornTears · 11/09/2017 19:57

Maybe its becoming greasy so quick due to over washing? Try going at least 2-4 days between washes and gradually it should take longer to become greasy. Maybe dry shampoo? I like drybar. I dont colour my hair though x

UnicornTears · 11/09/2017 19:59

And washing your hair everday is the worst thing to do by the way OP.

MargotMoon · 11/09/2017 20:00

Try L'Oreal Pure Riche.

tbh our shower is rubbish with hardly any power behind it. wouldn't be surprised at all if that was half the problem.

I have done washing up liquid tonite so will see how it goes when it's dry.

wildthoughtz · 11/09/2017 20:17

Could it be due to the water level in your area? I moved to an area with soft water and couldn't understand why my hair looked greasy as soon as I had blow dried it. Literally no life and limp. I used the seaweed shampoo bar from lush, complete lifesaver.

gingerbreadmam · 11/09/2017 20:31

i have no idea but definitely want to try the lush bar. thanks for the recommendations.

i had some stress and hormonal issues going on, my hair would feel greasy within hours of a wash. I tried a multi-pronged approach:

  • cut out all stress and get checked at your GP for your hormones etc in case it's related to that
  • leave longer between washing (if you can) e.g. every other day rather than daily - with the help of dry shampoo
  • dry shampoo is AMAZING for later in the day when it's getting greasy, or you can leave on overnight / between washes
  • change up your shampoo every wash (e.g. cycle between 3 or 4 shampoos)
  • co-washing - e.g. use conditioner only for washing between washes
  • also reverse washing when you use conditioner first then use your shampoo after (this really helped me)
BackieJerkhart · 11/09/2017 21:47

Are you using a clean brush?

MusicToMyEars800 · 12/09/2017 10:10

The Lush shampoo bars are nice, my Favourite one was the Karma Komba/coma (I can't remember the name) it was karma something though, It's a green one and it's round Grin

MusicToMyEars800 · 12/09/2017 10:12

It's this one Smile

gingerbreadmam · 12/09/2017 10:21

i gave fairy ago last night but didnt dry it which usually makes it greasier. its not greasy but still not that salon feel.

definitely giving lush bar a try. actually - havent cleaned my tangle teezer in forever. will give it a wash in baby shampoo tonite.

Patchouli666 · 12/09/2017 10:59

I cannot get on with the lush shampoo bars. They have sodium laureth sulphate in too somwill leach the colour from your hair. Have you tried Shea moisture? The one I use is the Jamaican black castor oil one. Both shampoo and condish. They are the best I've ever used. Have a long list of what they don't have in them...sulphates, parabens etc. Boots have them on a 3 for 2'offer at the mo hut don't have the Jamaican one in conditioner. .amazon have it though

gingerbreadmam · 12/09/2017 11:08

i'll have a look thanks. i was wondering if the lush bara would foam much?

MusicToMyEars800 · 12/09/2017 20:19

The Karma Komba one I used didn't foam much at all, I've not checked the ingredients though, but will now.

DisorderedAllsorts · 12/09/2017 20:38

Can I ask a question about washing your hair with fairy liquid, please? Do you wash it with fairy, rinse off and then finish washing with your normal shampoo and conditioner? Also, how much do you use?

gingerbreadmam · 13/09/2017 09:52

i used like a 50p piece sized. washed twice with fairy once with head and shoulders and then conditioned the ends.

It didnt make much difference for me so must just be my hair.

MusicToMyEars800 · 13/09/2017 10:05

The Karma Komba does have SLS in it, if that bothers you?
Have you tried the L'Occitane shampoo's? They are really good, I used mine last night, and my hair feels amazing today.

The washing up liquid is to strip silicones from your hair. So anything you use afterwards (you won't need to shampoo again) needs to be silicone free. Ongoing you don't need the fairy liquid again provided all shampoos and conditioners and hair products that you use do not contain any silicone

poisonedbypen · 13/09/2017 19:14

You can use baby shampoo if you don't fancy fairy liquid. But then no more silicones.

cupcake007 · 13/09/2017 21:12

I had this problem too. I used Aussie mega shampoo which left it really clean but totally stripped it of moisture. Now I use Garnier Ultimate Blends olive oil shampoo which is moisturising but leaves no build up. I would never have chosen it because of the oil, but it's fab.

TentUpFirstBunkUpLater · 13/09/2017 21:27

I use Wella Brilliance. It's fab. Hair feels clean, light and soft. Would never use anything else. Litre bottle of shampoo and conditioner for around 20.00 for the two.
