What season am I likely to be?!

jelly10 · 10/09/2017 12:04

I've considered getting my colours done on and off but have never got round to it so wondered if anyone could give me an idea which season I am from my colouring... probably completely impossible but worth a try!

I've got light-mid brown hair, green-blue eyes and neutral, ivory skin - no yellow tones but not super-pale.

I want to be a winter, love those clear, jewel colours. I think one of the reasons I haven't had it done is I'm worried I won't like my season - and then what do you do?!

I would take a guess at summer from what you e described although the greeny eyes may point to spring. Pretty sure you're not a winter - light brown hair is pretty unlikely on a winter - your colouring sounds too delicate.

Teebird669 · 10/09/2017 12:12

My guess is autumn..all the colours are there for this season.

poppym12 · 10/09/2017 12:18

Soft/muted summer maybe? Sounds similar colouring to me and it took me ages to fathom why I looked like I'd been dug up if I wore autumn colours (which I originally thought I was). I'm basically neutral all over.
Do you have a go-to colour that you think you look good in?

elliej83 · 10/09/2017 12:25

Your colouring sounds like mine and I am winter. Have you tried the questionnaire on kettlewell colours?

suchatiredbunny · 10/09/2017 13:14

When I had my colours done I said if I came out as a spring I wanted my money back! I really don't like orange so I was very relieved to be a summer!! However, I'd say you're colouring sounds like mine although my eyes are green not blue-green so my guess would be a summer.
If you can afford it, and if you want to get it right, I'd pay to get your colours done at House of Colour.

jelly10 · 10/09/2017 20:25

Thank you everyone - looks like it is pretty difficult to tell from a description alone. Thank you for the quiz @elliej83 I hadn't seen that before, it's fab. Seemed to be as much about personality as colouring. I did it and it said I was.... winter!!! Yay!! I'm very tempted to stick with that (as it's what I wanted to hear ) but maybe I should bite the bullet and have it done properly - I like the idea of a money back option if I don't like the outcome @suchatiredbunny Smile

I've just looked at the first 4 qus of that survey and am hugely perplexed as to how my personality or ideal job has anything to do with what season I could be. Twaddle perhaps? That's not saying that the other qus are not relevant though

Hairq · 11/09/2017 07:08

I wouldn't believe that quiz - I've just done it and all it does is ask which colours you're drawn to and about your personality - there was only one question about your actual colouring. Sorry, but I'm sure you're not a winter - winters are either very high contrast or have icy blonde or grey hair generally. Your colouring
Sounds more gentle.

FlyingSoloFlyingFree · 11/09/2017 07:15

Your colouring sounds similar to mine and I'm a soft Summer. I wanted to be Winter too as I love all the jewel colours and tbh I often wear them anyway - I took my 'diagnosis' as advisory rather than sticking to it slavishly.

This is a great website to help you figure out your colours!

Hi OP,

Probably one of the summer palettes but not light summer. I'm light summer and have very cool, pale skin, blue eyes and blonde hair. Probably cool summer.

For reference, these are the cool and light summer palettes;

I'm worried I won't like my season

I would encourage you to explore your own colouring, so that you understand what suits you best. You would naturally be drawn to the colours in your own palette, in which you look your best, where your face, rather than the clothes you are wearing, is the focus of people's attention. Its all good.

As an adult, of course, nothing would force you to 'accept' such colours. Even if you keep strictly to your colours as soon as you find put about them, it would usually take some time til you have replaced everything in your wardrobe. Once you do, though, it means that everything 'goes' with everything else. It makes packing easier, and less scramble to get shoes to go with a new outfit, as most likely you already have something that would work.

Its the reason that so many people find black 'easy', because its easy to find things in black and seems easy to get things to work together. The pleasure that comes from finding your own things, in your own colour and style, is immense. I find myself feeling better when surrounded by my own colours,

Over time, though, you will very likely notice the impact ’your' colours have and find yourself choosing them. If you ever spot anything that is perfect for your colouring and style, you can be confident buying it, no matter what the cost. Many people find that the confidence that comes from knowing your colours, also means that you can afford to buy fewer, and better quality clothes.

Hope you find it for yourself.

If the cost of being analysed puts you off, you could look out for the colour me beautiful training academy, who occasionally run training courses for new consultants. The academy offers free sessions to people prepared to be models for the new consultants. They are closely supervised, and their judgement is validated by the supervisor, so you are unlikely to be done incorrectly.

You could work it out for yourself, but its good to have someone validate it for you and point out the colours within that palette that particularly suit you.

Squashit · 11/09/2017 13:28

One of the best ways is by identifying what colours do not suit you.

List them and then it should help narrow it down.

Squashit · 11/09/2017 13:30

Have a look at the Clear Spring palette.

Dustbunny1900 · 11/09/2017 15:15

No warm yellow tones would rule out autumn or spring ..have you looked at the veins in your wrist? Blue=cool and green = warm.
I'm leaning towards summer with light brown hair and ivory skin. Winters almost always have dark hair

jelly10 · 11/09/2017 18:10

Sad I thought that test seemed to be more about personality than colouring, but I was so pleased with the result!!

Thank you for the advice about thinking about which colours suit me - I think part of the problem is that I really don't have a clue which ones they are Confused I think I look pretty much the same in any colour. I really don't like pastel colours much at all and hardly ever wear them apart from occasionally mint green - but I don't know whether that's because they're not my colour or just because I don't like them. I think I look best when I'm at the hairdressers (bizarre I know) - when I've got the black gown on and wet (so darker) hair, my eyes look really clear and bright. Or maybe it's just their lighting!!

I guess I should just get it done properly and put myself out of my misery Smile

I find this site really helpful- www.prettyyourworld.com/analyzeyourself.html
It also has more seasons than the other systems, which to me suggests it can be more accurate.
FWIW I'm a Shaded (deep) Summer, and my hair and eyes are like yours, although my skin is quite pink rather than neutral. See how you get on, anyway.

Viewofhedges · 11/09/2017 19:38

I'm Hurricane. Grin

Wear what makes you feel good!

monkey42 · 11/09/2017 22:05

Your colouring sounds like mine, I had my colours done early this year. At first it looked like I might be winter but then it became clear I was a clear bright spring, which might explain why you like the bright colours?
I already knew my best colours were coral/red, bright pink, teal, and most blues especially Oxford blue, turquoise. I would wear head to toe duck egg blue and green colours if I could...

applesareredandgreen · 11/09/2017 22:15

I second 'prettyyourworld' . The self analysis is really easy. I'm a soft summer. I look good in 'cool colours' but can also wear muted shades like khaki. I can't do yellow/mustard/orange/bright red - although I can wear raspberry or burgundy reds.

FinallyHere · 12/09/2017 08:30

I think the world is divided into those who are in touch with what suits them (my impossibly glamorous mother and sister) and those of us who lack confidence and are very easily swayed. Now that I 'know' my colours, I can pick them out anywhere and know they work well for me. Left to myself, I flirted with all sorts of colour schemes and it ally took an outside agent to poi t them out to me.

Having 'em done by someone was the way forward for me.

Dustbunny1900 · 12/09/2017 12:45

How much does it cost to have them done? Is it a "virtual" consult?
