Duoboots / Ted & Muffy

So Duoboots got an absolute pasting on here when they rebranded as Ted & Muffy and put all of their prices up. I've just had a look at their site and see that they've gone back to their original name. Has anyone bought from them lately?

I don't think they adjusted the prices though. Hmm

I can't believe they have changed their name back, didn't they consult on the whole Ted & Muffy rebrand? I think customers will be pissed off, and trust is gone. Their prices are ridiculous now.

Their prices were high even as duo but the pair I got were amazing quality

I'm looking at the Huntsman in navy, which are £230, so a bit more than Clarks / Dune but considerably less than LK Bennett etc. I don't think it's a ludicrous amount if (and this is the kicker) the quality is good - hence me asking for recent experiences.

Not bought for years but always found the quality ok.

TBH I don't 'get' this quality idea that's often chucked around on forums. Maybe I wear my clothes and shoes etc lightly, but I really don't think there is much difference in quality at all between run of the mill, middle market stuff.

You are going to pay more for Duo because it's a niche market, so they aren't making huge quantities like Dune, or M&S or Clarks, for example, or any of the major companies.

Compared to Russell & Bromley they aren't expensive. I'd expect to pay around £150 - £200 for a pair of boots and mine last at least 3 winters. Having said that, their styling (Duo) often has something that isn't quite right. I only buy / have bought because I've narrow calves.

I keep looking for my next pair. I'm on year 7 this year - rebel every year for about £25. I would highly recommend.

Duo sold themselves on their ability to fit any shaped leg -they had an incredible range of widths - and to do so quite stylishly. I have quite large calves and being able to buy nice long boots was just brilliant, and worth saving up for. I didn't think that Ted & Muffy really sold themselves as such. Hopefully now they're Duo again, they'll shout about it a lot more. I've not bought anything recently because I'm still wearing my pre-re-brand boots, which says a lot about what the quality used to be.

HemiDemiSemiquaver · 09/09/2017 17:50

I've not bought any since they went back to Duo. I had some T&M ones and wasn't that impressed - the heels folded in on themselves the first time I put them on, and then constantly did that ever after as it was the cardboardy bit of the heel that folded. They weren't much help when I complained. And they were far more expensive than they were as Duo - they used to have some cheaper ones that were more like £125, that were still good quality.

They also closed the shops where you could try them on and then order, so that makes it much harder now.

I've bought some ankle boots for autumn. They are excellent quality and very comfortable.
