Why doesn't my face ever feel moisturised after moisturising?

I've tried so many moisturisers all different price ranges but my face never seems to feel moisturised. It always feels a bit dry & tight.

I recently had some vouchers so treated myself to Clarins hydraquench moisturiser as I've always found their products to be very good. The lady told me to use only a small amount and pat it in to my face. I still don't feel moisturised!

My skin all over is fairly dry and nothing ever really seems to help but it's bothering me more on my face as I hate the dry feeling and it makes me look tired. I want to look dewy!

Can anyone help before I waste any more money?

Thank you all for the suggestions. I do drink a fair bit of water but my diet could be better. I've actually been reading about cutting down on carbs as I want to lose a bit of weight put on over the summer.
I also take medication so don't know if that might affect skin.

Try neals yard rose balm-smells lush and lasts all night

Serum and oil are different but some people will use and oil in the evening or instead of a serum. I use an oil for cleansing but not as a treatment but even the cleansing oil softens my skin a lot.

Right, I am off to Boots in a bit so any more recommendations I can get from there gratefully received!
Just a bit wary now of spending money on things that don't work for me.

Should I also use serum on the neck? Should it be applied to face
morning & night?
Thanks

I don't know that cleanser but is it possible it is too harsh? I know some people find that a gentler cleanser stops them from stripping moisture off their skin ...

I have dry skin. I wash my face with coconut oil (usually in the shower so just rinse off) and use Dream Cream or Celestial moisturisers from Lush. Works wonders and not bank breaking.

I did have very very dry skin.

I don't anymore as I use a exfoliating face wash twice a week.

Daily I slather coconut oil on my face and wash off with a damp wet wipe ran under quite hot water.

Then slather in loads of nivea blue pot mouistrising cream. It's very cheap and lasts ages.

My face is so hydrated now and I swear by the stuff as my red blemished cheeks have really calmed down now.

I found that until I gave up on face washes as such and now use miscellar water. It's amazing I love it and helps my skin so much. I use miscellar water, one of two cleansers - all natural tea tree one from lush if I'm getting spots or a calming lavender one for every day. I then use the lush gorgeous moisturiser, really pricey but I got a pot for Christmas and it's still got loads left. My best friend has very similar skin sounding to you and she swears by Clinique dramatically different moisturising lotion again pricey but you use the tiniest amount. Whenever I have used it my face is dewey for days lol so it's a bit too rich for me

I feel similar to you. I've ended up with Superdrug hydrating serum and Aldi moisturiser. Between them they've done a better job than a lot of very expensive products.

What does your face feel like after cleansing? It shouldn't feel tight or dry.

Cleanser really has a simple job - make your face clean without stripping it.

It doesn't need fancy ingredients to make your skin lovely as they are only going to be on your face for seconds so they are a waste of your money. It's your serum, toner and moisturiser that you leave on your face that should be having all the skin improving ingredients in.

If your cleanser isn't doing this - clean without drying, change it to something that does. Coconut oil if not prone to breakouts, Lush Ultrabland.

Moisturise from within. Take a 1000mg of either starflower, flaxseed or vitamin e.

dudsville · 09/09/2017 21:56

Look for a balm, which is richer than nice blue tub.

Ollivander84 · 09/09/2017 22:03

Make sure you are cleansing with something gentle like la Roche posay dermo cleanser

Try a hyaluronic acid serum under moisturiser, something with an occlusive to seal it in

This is pretty helpful http://bomibox.com/moisturizers-occlusive-vs-humectants/

And this http://www.snowwhiteandtheasianpear.com/2015/07/beginners-korean-skincare-routine.html?m=1

You need layers really

Lush ultrabland is brilliant. It cleans without drying unlike most face washes.
