What to wear to a cricket match in September?

I've been invited to a cricket match, and it was hinted that the informal dress code is 'garden party' ie flowery dresses and hats. I'm in my 50's, petite and a bit overweight, and 'garden party' is not at all my thing! Also concerned about getting cold as it is all outdoors.
Any ideas? Are trousers acceptable? what do garden party ladies wear on their legs when it's cold?? Is a hat mandatory and what to do if hats just don't suit you?

Where's the match?
If it's village cricket then I'd be surprised if it's dressed up. Jeans, trainers and a warm jacket is the norm IME.
The only smart cricket match I went to was for a big birthday when the spectators made an effort, although most women got changed into party frocks after the match had finished.
I've never seen a smart hat at cricket, even Lords.

It is a county level match, with the directors of my company. Likely they will all be drinking! So who am I trying to impress...

Definitely not village cricket. Grin
When I went to a corporate do at Somerset it wasn't dressy but if you google the ground and hospitality it often gives you a dress code.

Just checked the website - minimum dress code is 'neat casual'. There was a video of the hospitality area and it is definitely dresses, with a jacket. Confused
How to hack this and still look like me?
