Is it good? Is it worth buying? I've tried the Clinique take the day off balm but it gave me spots. I don't want to waste more money buying something that's going to give me spots!

I love a cleanser! I've tried this one and whilst it does it's job and gets all your make up etc off its not my favourite.

I've found I'm using more of one side than the other quicker if that makes sense. It has absolutely no fragrance whatsoever so doesn't feel very luxurious. It's great for travelling as you have 2 cleansers in one pot.
I get why they have kept it very plain and un fragranced - suits more people etc but I like to enjoy using products! Can't beat emma Hardie Smile

autumnboys · 06/09/2017 21:31

I've got the Pixi balm only - very nice! I'd like to try the double cleanser, but did wonder about it running out at different times.

joangray38 · 07/09/2017 02:26

She did mention in one of her vlogs that they were going to start making refil pots

BumWad · 07/09/2017 06:47

Have you tried the Emma hardie moringa balm? It is lush but pricey

vasseve1 · 07/09/2017 11:27

If you are prone to spots I would avoid the Pixi double cleanse it has oils and other nasties in it that can aggravate the skin. The double cleanse is a complete gimmick made up by Caroline Hirons you will not get a dermatologist who would recommend double cleansing. Green People do a very good organic free from nasties cream cleanser and it lasts a long time.

Pappawasarollingbone · 07/09/2017 12:39

My skin is a lot better after double cleansing. I use the pixie duo and Emma Hardie, lush ultra balm is excellent. Double cleansing has improved the texture of my skin and I get fewer spots.

dinosaursandtea · 07/09/2017 13:49

The Pixi Glow Tonic is amazing, but haven't tried the cleanser.

goblinhob · 07/09/2017 13:54

I've tried the dual and I wouldn't bother to be honest. As a previous poster says Emma hardy or the Clinique take the day off

bigfatfeet · 07/09/2017 13:59

I like the Elemis pro-collagen cleansing balm - it's fine on my sensitive-ish skin, smells lovely and a pot lasts for aaaaages. I thought the non-Hirons Pixi cleansing balm was horrible - it smelt of cheap rose scent, felt really waxy and didn't rinse off properly, but have never tried the Hirons one because I find her deeply irksome.

ephemeralfairy · 07/09/2017 14:42

I tend to use cleansing oils rather than balms as they feel lighter on my skin and rinse off much better. Simple do a lovely one which is about £6 from Boots.
At the moment I'm using Super Facialist cleansing oil by Una Brennan, bit more expensive but a huge bottle and it has a lovely orange-y scent. Also from Boots and often discounted.

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay · 07/09/2017 15:22

The pixi caroline hirons double cleanser has completely changed my skin. I thoroughly recommend it. Give it a go.

To the person who is against double cleansing - what a load of rubbish. You need to take off your make up and/or spf before you can actually clean your skin.

vasseve1 · 07/09/2017 19:09

ItsLikeRain I am allowed my opinion so I am throwing the rubbish comment back at you. I am assuming you can't take your make up off once just with a good cream cleanser? you must be doing it wrong if you have to repeat the process. As I said before it is a gimmick and of course you end up using twice the product... Kerching! plus more wiping and rubbing of the skin. Why pay for more expensive Pixi when the stuff is not on your face that long but let's just keep believing the Hirons hype and buy into the Clique ridden beauty bloggers sponsered crapola.

Like a PP, I use the Simple oil. I like the fact that I can rub it over my eyes to get the mascara off, and it doesn't sting. I follow it with either B gel cleanser or LRP Effaclar. I feel like double cleansing is a gimmick, but it suits my skin.

I wouldn't pay over a tenner for something that gets rinsed off though.

asilikeit · 08/09/2017 08:27

Another one agreeing that oils aren't all nasties. I have combination/oily skin- if I use anything that produces foam/ labelled as mattifying etc my skin breaks out terribly. Basically find the oils that work for you and use them- I tend to steer clear of anything with too much shea- to cloggy- and eucalyptus- too harsh- so I don't use Liz Earle for example. Neroli oil tends to suit my skin so emma Hardie works brill as well as decleor aroma essence neroli cleansing milk.

I also wear a spf and foundation most days so I need to remove all of my make up etc in one cleanse before I can actually clean my skin. To me not cleansing twice while having those things on my face would be like getting in a bath covered in mud and sitting in it then not showering off.... Smile

flippinada · 08/09/2017 08:40

@JulieCloud I think it would depend on your skin type? This looks like it would be better for normal to dry skin. I double cleanse but I'm combination/oily so used a micellar water first to take make up etc off then cleanse.

Double cleansing wasn't invented by Caroline Hirons or indeed any other beauty bloggers, although they have popularised it - it's been around for years and years.

It's common sense (remove make up/spf before doing a cleanse) and doesn't have to cost a fortune - although if you want to go spendy and can afford it, why not?

Also, is not obligatory, so it if doesn't work for you then don't do it.

flippinada · 08/09/2017 08:44

That looks like I'm lecturing you. Sorry, not intentional. There was another poster saying double cleanse was invented by CH as a money making thing. She may well be making off it (fair play to her) but she didn't invent it.

vasseve1 · 08/09/2017 10:12

When I mentioned Hirons 'inventing ' double cleanse I mean she has put her name to and marketed something that people do anyway to make money and sell more products. When someone writes in and say's they are prone to spots and have sensitive skin then something that has fruit and mineral oils are not condusive to reactive skin and that's what is in these products plus other spot inducing ingredients. There are always exceptions as everybody's skin is different. As someone mentioned 'double cleanse' has been around for years proving my point. Of course it is up to you if you want spend more money on a marketing ploy.

flippinada · 08/09/2017 10:23

Yeah, but people have been doing that since forever with all sorts of things, not limited to beauty/make up. Can't get worked up about it tbh and people can spend their money where they like. It's all about finding something that works for you and your skin type isn't it?

NiteFlights · 08/09/2017 10:28

I often 'double cleanse' but think the idea that you need two different products is a marketing myth. You are putting two different lots of ingredients which could potentially cause a reaction onto your face. Also I think it is bonkers to spend money on something that immediately gets washed away (although equally if it makes you happy, more power to you). I also don't like products you have to stick your fingers into, although this probably matters less for a cleanser.

I think this product looks like a nice bit of marketing but there are likely to be better things out there for you for a lot less money.

Keep your Pants on Fridge no need to take it so personally.....

realhousewife33 · 08/09/2017 17:16

I don't really need to double cleanse that often as I very rarely have make up on during the day but I have tried the Pixi Caroline Hirons cleanser. I used the balm side up first and then used the cream cleanser so it didn't go to waste. It's ok, I couldn't see much difference between the Pixi balm and Clinique Take the Day Off, very similar. For me it's an ok product, does the job but as someone else said, there's no pleasure in using it with it being unfragranced etc. I've tried the Pixi, Clinique and Emma Hardie and for me it's Emma Hardie all the way.
