peach fuzz face

Twistmeandturnme · 06/09/2017 09:44

I don't look in the mirror much, but caught site of a side view lit by the sun in the rear view mirror today and am starting to turn into a wolf. How does one get rid of peach fuzz without turning it into bristles? On the sides of my face it's really quite fluffy, albeit very very fair and fine.
Thanks

no replies! Does this mean that I am indeed a furry freak or that everyone else is happy with the mutton chops and I just haven't been paying attention......

Please don't make me turn into Amos Brearly....... I don't want to shave the top of my head to complete the look.....

I use an electric razor and an epilady for bristles under my chin.

CiderwithBuda · 06/09/2017 13:18

It's horrible isn't it?

I'm the same.

Someone on here recommended shaving believe it or not. You can buy Shiseido razors on amazon especially for this. You just run them down your face and it removes the hair. Supposed to be good for collagen production too. I bought some and it does work but I don't like the idea of constantly throwing bits of plastic in landfill so am looking for another solution.

I have an epilator and am wondering about trying that.

I'd like something permanent really though.

Walkingtowork · 06/09/2017 13:19

The Epistick epilator facial hair removal remover tool on Amazon is great, and very cheap. Quite satisfying to use (though bit ouchy on the upper lip)

Twistmeandturnme · 06/09/2017 13:26

Is that the springy thing? I can't be doing it right because it's agony and only removes a couple at a time: if I try it on my sideburns my head may explode!

Does shaving not make the hairs more bristly? I have an epilator too but haven't tried that as the hairs are so fine.

TheColonelAdoresPuffins · 06/09/2017 13:29

My hairs are fine and blonde and it shaves close so as long as i do it regularly it's ok. I've used the epilady on it too. It's a bit sore so if i don't fancy that i use the shaver. The epilady would probably get less sore of you did it regularly

Walkingtowork · 06/09/2017 13:36

Yes it's the springy thing. Sounds like you're doing it right, maybe I'm made of tougher leather than you Grin

Dustbunny1900 · 06/09/2017 13:41

Shaving doesn't make the hair grow back any different, and unless the hair in your face is coarse, it won't feel Bristled. Waxing destroys collagen and it's rough on the skin, so I don't do it on my face.
It's called "derma blading" where I'm front, and it's great for exfoliation too
Sincerely,
A fellow werewolf 😂

Twistmeandturnme · 06/09/2017 13:42

Has anyone tried the fine sandpaper pads? Do these work or is it too fiddly/removes more skin than hair?

I was really hoping that someone would pop up with a wonder product/technique:
'Twist, yes, I had whiskers like Wolverine, I put this stuff on my face for 2 minutes, all the hair fell out, leaving no irritation, no marks and no smell and as a a bonus it filled in my wrinkles'

I'll try the electric epilator tonight and up date you.

I tried those korean face shavers and it ruined my skin for months. Obviously the pores on my face were open and more vulnerable to dirt etc but I also think the baby fine hairs became trapped under the skin trying to grow back - I got lots of inflamed, under the skin acne (particularly in the hairier areas, like the sideburns).

Since I've left it alone my skin has gone back to normal and is clear again.

So.... it's not always great if you have sensitive skin. Just a heads up! I'd rather be hairy than spotty! Most people have some "fur" on their face. I got some electrolysis for my upper lip and leave the rest alone (apart from brows).

LifeofClimb · 06/09/2017 15:15

I also honestly can't remember the last time I noticed someone else's (female) facial hair lol. Moustaches and beard hairs I understand, because they can grow in dark and can make anyone feel self conscious, but honestly - peach fuzz? That's why I stopped caring so much about my (perceived) facial hairiness. I don't think anyone else notices it.

And - for the record - although it's not stubbly like shaved leg hair - it DOES feel noticeably rougher on the face when it's growing back. The baby fine hair has been cut bluntly, so obviously that will feel different. My mum was shocked when she touched my forehead when it was growing back from one session - it wasn't baby soft like usual.

It's up to you obviously - but you probably notice it more than anyone else does.

Twistmeandturnme · 06/09/2017 15:27

Life I get what you're saying: I don't normally notice it but it took me by surprise when I saw it lit up this morning. My face is not dissimilar to the father in TeenWolf....it's pretty thick but because it's so pale I hadn't noticed it. In the light it's like a facial halo

I use what they call eyebrow razors, you get them on Amazon pretty cheaply. I do it once a fortnight after exfoliating and before moisturiser. I don't have lots of peach fuzz but I find it makes my skin look lovely and my make up go on great.

arousingcheer · 06/09/2017 15:51

Apparently Marilyn Monroe refused to wax her peach fuzz because it caught the light and made her face glow. Any chance you could recreate yourself as a midcentury bombshell film star?

Tanaqui · 06/09/2017 17:37

I was going to say the same as arousing! I have mine threaded when I have the eyebrows and moustache done - lasts ages on the fuzz.

HeyMacWey · 06/09/2017 18:15

My epilator has a separate razor attachment so I just use that every couple of weeks.

ParadiseLaundry · 07/09/2017 18:41

@arousingcheer I actually read the opposite, that she coated her face in Vaseline which made her face grown a fine downy fuzz which caught the light and made her face glow I was Hmm 'that doesn't make sense'. The way you describe makes much more sense. Maybe the person reporting got the wrong end of the stick Grin

NatalieRushman · 07/09/2017 18:56

You can shave peach fuzz, and it won't grow back coarser. It exfoliate your face too. Or at least, dermaplaning does; I don't know about self-shaving. Try dermaplaning - but try to get local recommendations for it.

Also, I heard that Marilyn Monroe shaved her face to help makeup lie more smoothly? Clearly some Chinese whispers has been going on here...

barefoofdoctor · 07/09/2017 20:44

Can't work those epi pen things however this off Ebay is the business for taming the horrendous blonde wolf which is slowly taking over my face

Sorry no link (no idea how to). Cheap as anything and not too ouchy (take painkillers first if you are a sensitive type!).

Peta11 · 07/09/2017 20:59

Dermaplaning is a great way to get rid of peach fuzz and also exfoliate your skin at the same time. I get it done about every 8 weeks, followed by a facial mask. Its very relaxing .Makes up make up sit much better and makes your skin glow Smile

abigailgabble · 07/09/2017 23:02

I just shave my face with a normal razor like a man every now and again. Have been doing it for years and I haven't turned into a bearded lady yet. Just keeps the fuzz down.

abigailgabble · 07/09/2017 23:04

Derma blading GrinGrinGrin

TheThingsWeAdmitOnMN · 07/09/2017 23:20

OMG. I love you guys!

I noticed this a few months ago, like the OP, in the car. It's been making me feel really old & ugly. Most of it is very soft downy hair, but some of the hairs are bristly & so hard to remove as they're white/grey/translucent. There are a few dark ones too 🙁

FeedMeAndTellMeImPretty · 07/09/2017 23:21

I use those sandpaper mitts on my legs - they do work but leave my skin red so I'm not sure how it would be on my face.

Honestly you should probably leave it and learn to love it! All the shaving, waxing etc will end up with regrowth, skin trouble etc.

I had my face zapped with IPL but I think that only works on dark hair/lightish skin so not for blonde hairs. If mine were blonde I think I'd have saved myself hours of plucking and epilating and hundreds of pounds on treatments and just embraced my peachy fuzz 🍑
