Curly hair - how to care for it?

Hi, my toddler DD has curls. I don't. This means I don't know how best to look after her hair so could you lovely ladies help please.

In summary, she has hair just below shoulders in curls (not tight ringlets but the kind you have from a perm I guess). Her roots get greasy but the ends get dry and often when she wakes in the morning the back is like a knotty birds nest.

I don't know if I should be using normal baby shampoo on top with moisturising conditioner on ends? Or should I use something else? I'm aware I shouldn't overload her hair with chemicals either...so what do I do???

Look up the curly girl method, there's a book and a Facebook group that has loads of guidance and advice. I spent years hating my hair only to find I did have nice soft curls when I changed my products and routines.
The method basically involves stopped using shampoo and using only conditioner that is free from silicones, some types of alcohol, surficants. I've probably missed some critical ingredients off that list but all the info is on the FB group or book.

Oh that's interesting. No shampoo?? Her hair would be manky unless there's some secret I will discover from the group...shall go and explore, thanks

What type of curly hair has she got? Not all of the curly girl method works for my curly girl. I take elements of it, but she does need a gentle shampoo once every 7-10 days.
