My abdomen has its own bloody postcode Hmm

I need to rein it in before I have no clothes, the problem with leggings is they are a bit too forgiving.

On the plus side, I have a fairly trim set of hips (I'm a 12 lower half)

On the minus side I have some intolerances which means I cannot do things like LowCarb or 5:2.

So , I know its difficult to Spot Reduce but I need ideas to help me.
I have an ancient Rio SlimGym (like a Slendertone) that I've dug out frm under the bed so I'm going to try that.
And one of those Blade things (long flexible bar) but not sure if that will help my belly.

I am long term ( over 37 years duration) vegetarian
No gallbladder (so I can't do the high Fat Low Carb, it will literally end me)
I eat minimal wheat (bloat/ IBS)
Minimal dairy, tried going off soya onto oatmilk but it didn't help.
Being treated for diverticulitus.

So, what can I do? Thanks

There are loads of things on Pinterest about beating tummy flab. I don't know who's been snitching, but I got about 10 sent to me today. Have a look on there.

I have Ibs too.Ive been following Michael Mosleys Healthy Gut diet.
Why can't you eat fat?The recommendations are for gall bladder removal are to eat low fat immediately after the operation.Afterwards there is no need to eat low fat.High carb diets have been shown to induce Insulin Resistance which in turn causes big tummys.I eat Olive Oil and some Coconut oil which is soothing to Ibs tummies and have actually started losing weight after many years of Ibs and piling it on.I gave Cauliflower rice or Zero noodles or Zucchini ribbons with tomato, basil and olive oil.Have you tried following basic Fodmap principals? Also the blood sugar diet may well work with three small meals daily.

teta
the fat issues ( I wasn't given any dietry advice post-op)
I don't like butter or marg (never have done) and cheddar leaves me in extreme pain.

I can get attacks similar to GB but not as severe on my right , and crampy spasms on my left if I eat the 'wrong' thing.

I'm ok with feta or small amounts halloumi.

I did follow LowFodmap on advice of Gastroenterologist (it is tough going ) thn was adviced to do slow re-introductions.
So I know the worst thing for me is white bread.
Rice is ok
Corn tortillas ok

But I think it needs beyond just diet (though that helps my well being ) I need to physically shape up.
I have my tracker , when I'm not at work I regularly clock up 18-20K steps.
My work is not active .

I'll look at those Pinterest sites cheapskate no doubt they'll haunt me too Grin

Do you drink? Booze always makes mine worse. I've recently discovered charcoal pills which are good after meals. Pilates is also great for strengthening everything. Plus overall weight loss. I tend to put weight on my stomach (I'm a size 10 & 5'5 so not overweight) but I found losing half a stone has made my belly much flatter.

Strongbeatsskinny · 04/09/2017 14:06

What about coconut oil and avocado can you tolerate those at all?

Botemp where has anyone mentioned fad diets?
All the ones I've mentioned are well known scientifically based diets. The Fodmap diet comes from Monash university. The healthy gut diet is a Mediterranean diet with fermented foods and some coconut oil ( which has also been found to reduce visceral fat). The blood sugar diet has been shown to reverse insulin issues in diabetics and pre-diabetics.And then you come on promoting this supplement which may work but may also (if it works) be toxic in the wrong dose.
Speaking as someone who used to work in research, albeit many years ago I would be extremely wary of jumping on the latest band wagon.I certainly wouldn't trust gps with the responsibility of looking after you on a new drug regime.

70 if you are apple shaped i.e.your fat is arround the tummy then depending on your fat stores you will have some degree of insulin resistance. This can speed up over the menopause causing rapid weight gain and even more hunger and can lead eventually to diabeties.Exercise will not control it but of course can help with blood sugar control.

Goshthatwentwell · 04/09/2017 19:44

The only diet that has shifted my apple shape is the Blood Sugar Diet. Even better it does the job in a couple of weeks and seems to have stayed off.

I did 30 Day Shred for 6 months and go fitter but no noticeable difference in shape, Then did Blood Sugar diet I pretty much had a four pack after a few weeks!

However I have noticed that six weeks of holiday carbs and booze ( and it's calories in carbs not the carbs in themselves so much) that the tummy is making a show again. Back on it...

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 04/09/2017 19:47

Gosh, can you do the blood sugar diet just to change shape and not to lose weight? Don't want to lose weight overall but want to lose my tummy!

botemp · 04/09/2017 19:53

Sorry, I'm not promoting anything at all. I'm simply saying it's worth looking into and to do that with medical guidance since OP's limitations are quite specific that will make most standard diet protocols difficult to follow.

I didn't mean to imply that other diets mentioned here specifically are fad diets, but just that the majority tend to be. Anyhow, I've asked MNHQ to take down my comment.
