Can I wear Cos clothes with big boobs?

I've recently lost a lot of weight and I am thoroughly enjoying going into all the shops that were previously unavailable to me. I'm not really spending yet, just trying to get a feel for what suits me, what sizing is like etc. Spent about two hours in Cos today trying on loads of stuff. I think I loved it, but I do have somewhat massive boobs and I'm not sure I'm deluding myself about how the stuff looked on me. I'm also only 5 foot 7, and noticed most women in the store seemed a couple of inches taller, and a different shape. I know I can wear whatever I damn well like, but having been out of mainstream fashion for a very long time, I'm definitely a bit short of confidence and don't want to make expensive mistakes. (Also felt a bit out of place because I went in wearing a Joules floral harbour top, which was probably some hienous crime against Cos fashion but it's one of the few items I have that isn't falling off me, even though it's very loose. But I don't see Joules tops in my future, really)

Watching with interest.

I've just vented on a poor posters thread about the total lack of boobs (or any bloody shape at all) on all the models for cox, seasalt ect Grin

Caprianna · 03/09/2017 16:18

I don't like Cos. I think it suits very few people.

ilovecherries · 03/09/2017 16:20

I saw your other post, Laiste Grin. Cos goes up to a size 16/18, so it's not tiny, yet all the models look as if an XS is probably pinned at the back to fit.

Keeping on topic here ... i'm the same as you (maybe more a 14) - but with the norks. Time and again i try stuff on with the high necks, tailored with little cap sleeves, shorter line, boxier ect, and time and again i hang them all back on the rack. It just doesn't suit my shape and pulls all in the wrong places. It's boring sticking to what suits :( Very occasionally i'll find something which i think blimey that looks better than i thought it would. A top recently from Star by julien macdonald in Debs surprised me. SO i guess it's worth giving trying a good range of stuff on - when you're in the mood.

PartyRat · 03/09/2017 16:35

Unfortunately I don't think cos works for people with boobs or hips! I'm 5'7 also, size 13 with boobs, hips and a waist and anything I've tried on in cos makes me look like a short fat toad!!

ilovecherries · 03/09/2017 16:40

I'm a 14-16 at the moment - 16 is needed for the boobs, it's too loose everywhere else, which was why I though Cos might be more forgiving. Because trying stuff on in shops and having it more or less fit is still such a novelty for me, I'm still enjoying just trying loads on. I dare say that will lose its charm fairly quickly!

I'm a tall size 12 and find very little in Cos that isn't designed for the pigeon chested.

PiratePanda · 03/09/2017 16:47

I'm booby and can't wear Cos, sorry. It looks nice on the hanger and nice on my SIL and absolutely shite on me.

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 03/09/2017 16:54

I have one dress from cos which is nice but I have to add a belt to give it some shape otherwise it just looks like I'm wearing an artists smock.

It's definitely designed for straight up and down people imo.

CountFosco · 03/09/2017 17:18

I'm a short hourglass and have started buying the odd piece in COS. I got a navy top with a cowl neck earlier this year that got a 'your top is fantastic' from my officemate which was good. I tucked it in, the models often wear thing very loose but if you look through the images there's sometimes a slightly more styled photo with a belt or some other anti-COS frippery. I very much buy the shortest skirts or dresses and only get tops that don't have a high neck. Agree the painfully skinny models don't help. For example I ordered this but I'll wear it with a belt like the third image class="underline">leatherbelt/10672454-77639244.1#c-85346 here and my boobs should improve the look.

If I was a taller booby woman then I'd buy this (if ever a dress was calling out for boobs it's this one!) or a shirtdress.

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 03/09/2017 17:20

That dress wouldn't work with boobs at all IME.

ilovecherries · 03/09/2017 17:31

That shirt dress was one of the things I tried on, CountFosco, and I really liked it - but it was also the item that had me wondering if I was being delusional about what suited me, because it did emphasise boobs and hips.

I'm a bit shorter than you and quite bit a lot fatter with a big bust. I find that COS shift dresses, those with a bit of give in the fabric, and some of their longer (below knee) jersey dresses look good on me. I find you just need to try them and pretty much ignore how they look on the hanger. I like the fabric mix and the block colour, and the colours especially the greens and blues. I think they're well-priced too.

Just ordered four dresses by mail order so hoping I don't need to return.....

CountFosco · 03/09/2017 18:16

But if you are curvy and feel good in it then wear something then emphasises your new shape. Bet you looked fab, I think when you lose weight it can be difficult to adjust to your new shape, either you instinctively reach for the shapes that worked before or it feels difficult to tell what suits because everything looks so much better. But the experimenting is all part of the fun.

ilovecherries · 03/09/2017 18:56

^^ this, exactly. I'm either reaching for really loose stuff, or I think everything looks wonderful, and I'm sure it doesn't. I was a 22 before, so it's a very big change. But I AM enjoying just trying stuff on and trying to see what I like.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 03/09/2017 19:00

I wear it a lot. I had a boob reduction 18 months ago. I wore it before and after the op. There was not much discernible difference tbh.

It's how you wear it and carry yourself that counts.

Lanaorana2 · 03/09/2017 20:21

Oh yes - as long as you avoid the Lieutenant Uhuru offerings in stiff fabric and high necks.

All the twisty stuff looks better with bosoms, as does the jersey and the merino.

Oversize clothes make everyone look fatter, which is why they are rec'd for stick insects only, but if you size down a lot and keep your wrists and ankles out it can be v flattering.

tigerdriverII · 03/09/2017 21:27

Lanaorana2

Oversize clothes also fit chunky people like me, although not with the same effect!

Getout21 · 03/09/2017 21:38

I find cos good with boobs if you stick to the jersey pieces. But I am quite straight except for the boobs. I tend to try on loads & then tailor the sizes, I have stuff in S, M & then 14 & 16 from there.

IDismyname · 03/09/2017 22:00

Count I have that shirt dress in a pale blue which they did for the summer. I've worn it several times. It's great and v comfy.

Signed

Airborne (an hourglass size 18).

wiltingfast · 03/09/2017 22:28

I'm dd cup, and 5'3"; suits me! Grin

Floisme · 04/09/2017 08:01

28F and 5'3 and on the rare occasions I'm in a branch I find things that work really well - sometimes the most unlikely things too. Online is a different matter - very hard to predict.

Peppermeant · 04/09/2017 09:10

I think this sort of oversized shape takes a while to get used to; whether it looks good or not is totally up to how you perceive "good" or "flattering", not dependent your shape, if that makes sense? My friends are mostly arty types who love this look and they are all different body types and all carry it off (IMO)

blueskyred · 04/09/2017 09:14

could you not order one item try it on and take a picture for opinions on here?

PiratePanda · 04/09/2017 09:16

I think the kind of oversize clothes COS do really only suit curvier women if they also have slim arms and legs. I'm an hourglass, and I put weight on everywhere - big arms, chunky hips and thighs. So oversize clothes just make me look even more enormous than I actually am.

Whereas if you have nice slim legs and arms sticking out of an enormous tunic you can probably disguise a cake baby.
