La Roche Posay vs The Ordinary

Ok so I read all the hype about the Ordinary and started doing lots of research about what to get for my skin.
Along the search I came across many saying that La Roche Posay is amazing too. I like the idea of being able to pop into boots and just pick out what I want. The Ordinary with its plethora of items seems overwhelming but then the results people have had sound great too.
Before I go and spend lots I was wondering if anyone had used both and which they'd recommend please.
I have acne scarring and if let alone my skin is dry.
Thank you.

Bit of both really. LRP do excellent cleansing products, I don't personally get on with their basic cleanser, most people love it and their micellaire water is fanstastic. Their spot cream is good and the stuff with the B5 in takes the redness out of any lump or bump, which is great if you have any allergies.

The Ordinary is more about actives, to treat aspects of aging or specific skin problems. They have a number of products to treat sun damage, for example.

I've gone from LRP to The Ordinary and back again - I just prefer using the LRP products, and yes it was annoying when my Vit C from the ordinary ran out and it was out of stock and I couldn't order more, whereas I could just pop to Lloyd's and get some more LRP C10 . The Ordinary are cheaper but results just as good if not better - I'd say try both and see what you prefer - it might be different products from each and you end up with a mixed routine.

I use both. I really like the LRP Toleriane Dermo Cleanser, my DD likes the Sensitive Micellar water and the eye contour cream sorted out some really dry, red skin she had under her eyes. I also like the Toleriane Ultra moisturiser. They are more expensive but, since they're usually in 200ml bottles rather than the 30ml Ordinary sizes, they work out as good value too.

The Ordinary- using the Hyaluronic Acid for hydration, Caffeine, Buffet and the gentle 20% Vit C in Vit F oil based serum.

However, something gave me a reaction - I don't think from skincare products, probably food - and my eyelids went super dry, my lips swelled up and peeled, horrifically dry. So, apart from antihistamines, I've been using the HA and LRP moisturiser for the last week.

I think both ranges are good, no parabens, perfume etc which I like. You have to research the Ordinary and I've seen many people go mad and buys stuff which they don't understand and then misuse or overuse, especially the acids.

Sorry for long post, I'd recommend both as long as you know what you're doing with TO products.

Thank you that's perfect. Yes there are items from each that tick the box so will read all the small print and work a manageable routine.
I think the giant hauls that some people post on the Ordinary Facebook pages also put me off - I don't know how anyone has time for all that in the morning.
Will try some stuff from each until I find a routine that works.
Really liking the sound of the HA!

I was tempted to hoard too because The Ordinary's prices are so much fun but I think I will stick to the Vit C, finish up my Niacinamide, and I'll have to try out the Matrixyl.

I think LRP's actives are less potent. But I did use the Redermic C for two years and liked it.

I have skin that doesn't like anything, so don't want to go out spending lots - even with the Ordinary's cheap prices - I just hate wasting stuff and throwing it away.

Bonfire I was also someone who just used Aveeno Moisturiser for years as something always seemed to irritate my skin but I see to be ok with what I've tried so far.

There is another HA which is always recommended and is much cheaper than even the TO. It's this onee* I'm waiting on my Amazon order and impatient to try.

I don't get lrp. Apart from being fragrance free the ingredients are identical most other products with similar names.
The ordinary undercuts on price for rose hip oil, acids and hyluronic acid.
They just lack sun cream.
