Lush hair products... which ones?

I've decided to ditch the shampoo I've been using for years (Elvive) and switch to Lush after reading and hearing great things about their quality. I like the ethics too. I went in today but was baffled by the range. Bottles, solid shampoos and conditioners... I am stuck! My hair is highlighted with light blonde on it... also dry and fine. What would you recommend? Do the solid shampoos go all sticky after use??

I love the solid shampoos. I changed to them in an effort to reduce waste, but to be honest, have stayed with them because they're great in their own right. If I were you I'd ask in store (or email) about which one is best for you hair type. Mine is fine and dry- the honey one works lovely for me. My husband had coarse thick hair and prefers the ylang-ylang oil or argan oil one.
For blonde I've heard good things about the Daddy-O liquid shampoo. I haven't tried that one myself though.

Daddy o is lovely, smells like Parma violets! I love juicy is also fab, particularly if your hair tends to be greasy

Daddyo is lovely for blonde hair and smells really nice. Big is brilliant if you want more volume. You can ask for a small sample of those if you'd like to try them.

The solid shampoos work really well and work out cheap because they last a long time. You just need to make sure that you keep them somewhere thatvthwyre botgoing to get wet between uses as that makes them sticky and wastes them. If left to dry between uses they're really good. The only down side is that they can make your scalp a bit itchy if you're prone to that.

My hair is really similar to yours and I alternate between daddy o and Big. Always have a good hair day when I use Big it's amazing!

The Marilyn hair mask (a solid single use block that you melt in water) is absolutely gorgeous on blonde hair.

Daddy O shampoo is great and jersey bounce is great for volume.

I know the staff in lush can seem a bit overwhelming with their enthusiasm Smile but they are extremely knowledgeable about the products and give great advice on items designed for your particular issue.

Fwiw I recommend their hair treatment H'suan wen hua (I think is the spelling) which is basically a salad in a tub. It leaves my dry hair really soft and glossy and smells delicious!

Squirrelfruitandnutkin · 02/09/2017 13:42

I'd love to try them but I can't find one that's SLS free.

I've got a really sensitive scalp atm so thought I'd buy some Lush hair products.

I bought the Veganese conditioner and the Soak and Float solid shampoo bar on the advice of the sales assistant. My hair looks greasy and lank after I've used it. In fact I've given up with it because looking like I've just done 5 days at Glastonbury isn't really the look I'm after.

The solid shampoos are mostly sodium laureth sulphate - a cheap detergent, which can be a skin irritant. Most shampoos contain some but it's the first or second ingredient in Lush solid shampoos. They clearly work for some people, and that's great for you if they do, but they're basically cheap soap with some essential oils added for scent, and maybe a texturising ingredient (like the sea salt in Big).

If you like the brand then their bottled shampoos contain a greater proportion of high quality ingredients - the fairly traded honey one is mostly honey. I use that once a week and co-wash with American Cream conditioner most days. They use recycled plastic for their bottles. I like a lot of Lush's skincare too. But unfortunately you can't assume products are good, or natural, or made from expensive things, just because they're from Lush :(. There's a real mixture and I always check the list of ingredients (which, to be fair, they provide on their website).

I haven't used lush shampoo for years but I did try a couple of their solid shampoos and hated them. They didn't lather up at all and with long thick hair it just didn't seem to clean it at all.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/09/2017 15:01

I love Lush but not keen on their shampoo (the ones I've tried anyway)

The solid ones are really hard to rinse out IMO
I tried a stout one (Cynthia something)

Though I do like the R'n'B conditioner, though it smells iffy. I use as a mask, rinse it out and it leaves by hair with a slight coating which bullies it into submission.
