Dyeing jeggings black with Dylon machine dye

I have a couple of pairs of black jeans that need to be revivied and wonder what would happen if I put a pair of dark indigo jeggings in there too.

Would they go black ok or just a funny, dirty looking colour?

They are Marks and Spencer jeggings 68% cotton 28% polyester and 3% elastane I believe or similar to that.

I was going to suggest you go for it but I've only ever dyed 97/98% cotton. Google. I think there's a dye for cotton poly mixes. Good luck!

I think they would probably go charcoal.
Dylon do an indigo version, but I tried it ages ago and it was not a great colour of blue imo.

I've died a lot of stuff with Dylan machine dyes. Jeans work very well, even with high elastine etc content.

The black works great, really deep color. It will come out really flat though, so your jeans will look more formal and less jeansy because they will lose the subtle variations in color that denim has.

The indigo jeans will also come out deep black, but if you are trying to dye three pairs of jeans in one wash you will need an extra pack of dye. Check the instructions about the weight of stuff you are dying.

Otherwise, the jeans blue indigo shade dylon do is ace, I really like it.

With all their machine dyes, I run the machine empty a couple more times than recommended as I have had the next load ruined by dye that didn't wash out of machine.

Thanks, I never thought about doing too many pairs, I was also thinking of throwing in a few other bits and bobs that need to be revived with black dye but will check the instructions.

I have the same indigo jeggings in black but they are just not as good a fit so thought its ideal to dye them black and if they end up a bit more "dressy" that is even better!
