Best black leggings . . . ?

ZiggyForever · 01/09/2017 16:33

Right, it's autumn, I need some black leggings! I want them to wash well (in terms of colour fastness and durability of material), not bag or sag at the knees or bum throughout the day, and ideally would have some magical buttock-lifting properties Grin

No real budget in mind - happy to invest in a couple of pairs of decent ones. Recommendations/ones to avoid, please . . . ?

in the promotions I never really understand

Grin

I was in there the other day and they made me open a lottery ticket thing to see what discount I had "won". The staff seemed so, so fucked off and over it, but I got 30% off so I was happy enough.

Leggings- I vote for Boden or Hush but there's no Sainsbury's where I am so I have not experienced the wonder of their leggings and can't comment.

River island ...I won't go any where else for leggings and they have a thick waist band to pull your tummy in #bonus ...can't recommend them enough

MistyMinge · 01/09/2017 21:36

I got some Sainsbury's ones after they kept getting recommended on a recent thread on here. They were £10 I think, so not sure if they're the luxury ones, but they're good. Decent thickness, hold my mum tum in and don't go saggy or fall down.

DandelionAndBedrock · 01/09/2017 22:01

Maisie it was absurd. DP wanted new chinos and holiday shorts. I had a code for 30% off full price, 20% off sale. DP found 2 pairs of chinos and 2 pairs of shorts. All full price except the trousers were buy one get one half price. So 20% off trousers, 30% off shorts. Went to pay.
"Because you have spent £X, you get a £45 gift card to use between X date and Y date. Have a good afternoon!"
How do they make ANY money??

Shockers · 01/09/2017 22:05

I buy Monsoon leggings for work. They cost more, but last (years!) and don't sag. They also have a deep waist which is comfortable and gives a smooth silhouette under other clothes.

imjessie · 01/09/2017 22:20

Mint velvet !

millifiori · 01/09/2017 22:24

Primark - the sports leggings, not the super-cheap ones. But buy a size (or even two) down if you want them tight. I have two pairs of the blackones and they haven't faded at all, wash well and keep their shape.

MeriWitch · 02/09/2017 19:39

River island & topshop are my favourites they're super fitted so suck in everything Grin

They're about £19 each!

I have some from phase eight. They've kept their colour and shape and have been washed loads. Nice high waist and don't fall down at all.

Escapepeas · 07/09/2017 21:45

I was excited to discover that Gap has a leggings shop on its website. Except when I looked at it, I realised that no-one has explained to them what the point of leggings is meant to be, because most of them have a zip/button fastening.

I tried on two different styles in my local shop and they are dreadful. The button/zip combo mean the waistband is not at all flexible, so if you want leggings to avoid being cut in two by jeans, they fail on that point and are massively uncomfortable. The thighs are also unflatteringly baggy.

However, I do have a pair of Gap gym leggings which are actually brilliant. High rise, thick fabric and supporting.

applesareredandgreen · 08/09/2017 00:40

Last winter I had some ponte leggings from Next - slightly thicker than normal, didn't sag or fall down. I'm hoping they are doing them again this year.

MmmmmmmChips · 08/09/2017 00:47

H&M do a thicker pair which are ok

Sainsbury's. But I don't know how they wash in a machine, because I wash everything black by hand.

EachandEveryone · 20/09/2017 10:21

The Sainsburys ones are reduced at the mo does anyone know whether to size down or not?

Lotsofsausage · 20/09/2017 10:47

Sainsbury's are true to size for me. I'm a 14-16 and the 16 are ok so they're not big fitting. Could get into a 14 though. They're stretchy enough to go either way though. Not very helpful, sorry! I just mean don't worry, whatever you get will be fine.

Fantasticmissfoxy · 20/09/2017 10:55

I've tried everything from very cheap to very expensive - and I've come to the conclusion that Primark ones (including the fleecy lined / warm ones) and replaced every year works best! Once they go a bit faded / saggy they get relegated to gardening clothes.

Fantasticmissfoxy · 20/09/2017 10:55

Ps yes not the very thin Primark ones - think the £8 odd ones are best

Branleuse · 20/09/2017 10:57

Sainsburys luxury ones. Best leggings ive ever tried, and i have literally a drawer full of leggings of various brands and price ranges

Squashit · 20/09/2017 11:05

I get on well with Next cropped ones. Wear them loads and after a year they are still going strong. I find the crop style suits a short arse like me better.

Opheliasgoldenwine · 20/09/2017 11:14

H&M- although I'm still wearing the maternity Ines for comfort Blush

legolandlass · 20/09/2017 12:04

For sainsburys are you all quite tall? I am 5'2 and have tried all the main shops and do agree on sainsburys except they are so long on me they look ridiculous!

They do sell petite ones but they have been out of stock online every time I've checked.

Bratsandtwats · 20/09/2017 12:10

Another vote for Sainsburys here.

mintich · 20/09/2017 12:34

New look and fatface
