Getting rid of fake tan

voxnihili · 31/08/2017 15:19

I've had a bit of a fake tan disaster. I've used this product for years (although only after my holiday to prolong the holiday feeling) but they seem to have changed the formula. I look terrible. I've tried googling for quick fixes but can only find good advice to prolong a tan which is the last thing I want.

I need to look better by the weekend as have an event with a rather revealing dress. Luckily I'd done it today to give the smell a chance to go!

Does anyone have any tried and tested remedies?

Thanks

Lots of showers, lots of exfoliation, lots of oil based body moisturisers. Sweating is good too so lots of aerobic exercise or sweaty sex.

Google suggest making a paste out of lemon juice and bicarb too but I've never tried that.

Washing up liquid mixed with some salt or sugar give yourself a good scrub with exfoliating gloves!
Lemon juice
or bondi sands fake tan eraser (although I find this only helps when you only have a small amount on so if you're caked in the stuff might not be so helpful)

Best of luck!!

Thanks - I saw the bondi sands thing advertised but it said works best after 5 days so not sure if it would work.

I shall shower morning and evening, and will get a glove tomorrow. I didn't want to have to exfoliate as wanted to preserve my natural tan but I may have no option. Sweaty sex is probably out of the question (DP is on nights and I smell far too bad to be able to entice him in any way!), but I can have a good work out at the gym.

My legs look fine, but my top half is blotchy. It looks as though it has washed off where the shower stream has hit it. I've checked the reviews and it seems other people have been caught out after using it before. My legs being darker won't be too much of an issue as people are used to seeing me in shorts and some kind of long sleeved top so they won't think it unusual.

Baby oil breaks it down, as does sodium lauryl sulphate & not moisturising.

There's no product to remove it as it stains the protein in the skin, luckily a new sets being made all the time so keep scrubbing & not moisturising.

Thanks for all the tips. It doesn't look so bad this morning but I've bought some exfoliating gloves so will give that a go later.

After research, I also looked at instant tan. I've never bought it before as wanted something that would last longer but after this disaster I've been put off - I also hate the fact I have to do it 3 days before I need it and feel self conscious about how bad I smell in those days. I went for a decent brand and the test on my hand went well so I shall do a trial run. It actually looks really natural for a fake tan (which is what I want - I don't wish to be orange, just to prolong my holiday tan).
