Tshirts and tums

I have a an issue with tshirts, they always seem to draw attention to my tummy. I don't have a huge tun or anything but have never found a tshirt that doesn't seem to cling I that area.

Anyone else have that problem? Any tips on a fit of tshirt that doesn't make one look like a beer belly?

Yes! Even with a relatively flat tummy they cling. With my current summer holiday muffin top they are looking awful and I haven't worn a proper t shirt for a few weeks.

Watching with interest. Have just bought some new jeans to help with the muffin top that i think will help but think I'll have to give up on T shirts and embrace floaty tops for the time being.

Thank you so much for responding and not making me feel like a long muffin! I've been trying to perfect the perfect posture and sucking in my tum, it lasts about 30 seconds......

Lone muffin not long!

Honestly my plan has been to go through my wardrobe and get rid of my t shirt style tops for autumn. I love them but they just show any lack of tone. Even if I lose weight (which looks terrible on me as I would love more curves not less) or tone up they are so unforgiving. Don't have the energy to hold my breath all the time!

Hopefully others will have ideas though.

Sorry I'm rainbow, forgot I'd name changed!

StorminaBcup · 30/08/2017 20:03

What style of trousers / jeans are you wearing? Pre dc2 I always wore low-risers but after dc2 I looked like a sack of spuds when I went back to pre-maternity clothes. The cut of the jeans made me look like 5-bellies and I'm not particularly big (10/12 but fairly tall). I've recently bought a mid/high rise jean and the tops and t-shirts look miles better. Could this be similar for you perhaps?

Greenteandchives · 30/08/2017 20:08

This one from m and s has a looser fit, and is really flattering.

That looks lovely Green but would it still show a muffin top? Need to get some higher waisted jeans it seems.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/08/2017 20:11

I've got a couple of those M&S ones (only black) and they drape really nicely.

Ttbb · 30/08/2017 20:13

You are buying the wrong fabric. You need sonething made of thick, stiff cotton.

Nanodust · 30/08/2017 20:13

That's another thing, the button and zip detail on jeans usually adds to the tum. Denim skirts are a nightmare too. I wear mid wise and am a size 10 so not huge in midriff etc.

No rainbow. No muffin top on show. They have a bit of 'swing' in them if you get the right size.

RainbowBriteRules · 30/08/2017 20:27

Ooh I am excited now, sorry to hijack your thread OP! Will be investigating :)

Nanodust · 30/08/2017 20:30

😜 Tshirt advice is for sharing!

It has to be that £7.50 one though, rainbow. It says relaxed, loose fit in the description, and it skims any lumps. Quite thin fabric, hence the slight swing in it. Not cotton, though, if that is important.

RainbowBriteRules · 30/08/2017 22:04

That all sounds great, £7.50 is a bonus as well Smile.

DelphiniumBlue · 30/08/2017 23:28

Swing t shirts from Boden seem to work.
I've also found wearing a slip cut down to t shirt length underneath helps, or you could try a silk or other non-cling cami.

wheresmyphone · 30/08/2017 23:34

The issue here is the stupid fashion houses keep making low or mid rise trousers. Average size in UK is size 16: consumers need a higher rise thus no muffin tops and t-shirts look ok. get your retailer to design for size and real life, not the cat walk......rant over....!

BitofaPoorEffort · 30/08/2017 23:35

I'm very slim, but with a bloaty tummy (bowel disease) and those M and S t shirts work pretty well for me.

Flat- fronted trousers also work well to avoid the 'button adding to my belly problem...the Gap bi-stretch are good for me, quite thick material that holds it all in, and I also several pairs of H and M summer slacks which are pretty good (not as good as the Gap but half the cost!)

(I also have a few casual cotton skirts with side zips but alas no denim one yet...)

BitofaPoorEffort · 30/08/2017 23:37

(Perhaps we need to be like Jennifer Anisto and have them tailored...)

PrimalLass · 31/08/2017 22:59

Wear a slippy vest/cami underneath. It really helps.
